so i see the gang gang dance album thats about to come out on social registry here is getting distributed by warp. i dig ggd (and the new album)- and think its a good choice. between flying lotus (another good choice), battles(another good choice), and gang gang dance - are they following the xl model? electronic/dance-ish beginnings mutating into a more populous appeal?

warp wants to be an indie label, but are tied by the shackles of their electronic past, so they release weird hybrid shit in an attempt to please both.
oh and maximo park.

XL has artist that have outsold the entire Warp catalogue. Seems an odd comparison to me.

warp released mostly solid stuff in the first 2 or 3 years to gain em a reputation
XL only hit on a good reckon very rarely by chance, they were never actually good, on average
why are you still talking about such labels in this day and age?

ever heard about Touch (not strictly a label)? Most of their recent release are fantastic, you can trust their ears/directions. a rare exemple of strong taste in music - in my opinion - in terms of label.
