ok, so we've banished 4 members now (by my count)
and after the huge crufuffle a few days ago w/ 'kara', and a
bunch of closed threads, ive decided to finally start this
topic

do we have any concrete rules here?

im definitly NOT saying we NEED them, but, well, thats were
YOU come in:
do u think we need clear rules to function as a good
messageboard?

i personaly dont think we do.. we are pretty mature around
here, and we can manage ourselves pretty well
people here are friendly and respectful to each other (most
of the time), even in heated discussions
but do we need to make clear reasons for which u can be
banned?

and while we do cover a really wide variety of topics:
personal/music/society/politics/movies/culture, etc, there
aren't many completely useless topics, and not much spamming
(depending on ur definition of it)
i think having rules would sort of ruin the open, friendly,
casual atmosphere
it might limit what we can talk about here

non-afx topics are nothing to fear: we always come back to
aphex eventually, and the majority of topics are still
idm/afx oriented, i dont think we need to regulate them

anyways, ive rambled on enough: what do u think?

well, I think most mature people would do alright here...
the rules just go unsaid I think... we all know not to act
like idiots, and thus we aren't banned...

i love this board because there's noone telling us what we
should talk about. it's more like a general messageboard
than an aphex twin messageboard.

It might not be a bad idea to codify some common sense rules
- no clones, spamming, etc. As the board gets larger it
might come in handy.

I also think personally that the MAJORITY of us all out here
kinda already know the "unwritten rules".....

We only get the trolls oce in awhile...

i think the only rule is use common sense and your best
judgement. i mean most people know those invisible lines
that should not be crossed. it's the Golden Rule folks =0)

I kinda avoided this thread for a while (I thought you were
praising House-music as well).

We've been avoiding to set up rules - just to see how you
lot were handling the situation and it has been working
surprisingly(!) well. The crew usually steps in when threads
are getting weird.

The general Netiquette applies to this board tho.

The guys at Joyrex seem to think this board is a glorified
chat room, with spam crap topics left and right. I totally
disagree, there's a ton of great topics active RIGHT NOW
about all kinds of albums and tracks and everything, a hell
of a lot more decent discussion around here. I think
everything's great as it is, the idiots are few and far
between!

I was on Joyrex once, and it seems like a total hassle... It
seems like a pain in the ass to post, I didn't even
bother... here I find it's very user friendly, and it's a
great atmosphere...

I think everyone understands that there are unspoken rules
just like everywhere else that you don't break... basically
don't act like a fucking idiot and you'll be fine

"Idiots" are usually eliminated Gestapo-style.

Well, it's not that bad, but you get the point.
