Just heard Ochre- "revolver" on last.fm and enjoyed it.
Anyone have a suggestion as to which album of Ochre I should
start with?

revolver is from 'midsummer nice dream', though my favourite
album is 'lemodie'. he's one of my favourite artists, seems
he's flawlessly good :)
he also recently released an EP and apperantly is working on
a new album.

The Sanguine (board member) remix of Revolver is one of my
favourite remixes of all time. I still listen to it
regularly.

good shit... midsummer's a nice choice... and the right time
to pick up before autumn hits and it gets cold again.

actually there's one other ochre release, 'system bangers
vol . 1'

It's his first ep (i think). I bought it several years ago
and its the only one I own. good shit, though.

I heard some of his more recent tracks about a year ago
(does that qualify as recent?) and didn't like them as much,
though there were a few standouts.

staz, you should hear Lemodie. dunno if it'll be your thing,
but it's a really good album worth checking out.

zephyr, he recently released Death Of An Aura EP, which
features contributions from the fella who worked with plaid,
which means lots of various instruments and gorgeous
melodies. his website also has Volumes I II & III,
collections of unreleased tunes. while they might not
properly count as albums, the quality of the tunes is still
really high and is espicially good if you're a fan of his
work :)

A midsummer nice dream is my favorite. It got bashed over at
Boomkat for sounding dated. Maybe it does, but it sounds
like mid 90s Warp, and I like that!

i was surprised to find that ochre is actually quite
(relatively) popular here in south africa. i'd be at
someone's house and ochre would be playing. i didn't know he
had a record deal, i thought he was just an amateur (rather
talented one at that) who spammed on xlt every once in a
while.

haha, i dunno if that's an exegeration/massive
generalisation or what but that's brilliant :D

Lemodie is a good 'un

i am generalising (i tend to exagerate), but i've come
across his music on a few seperate occasions. i might add
that when i said ochre was playing, i didn't mean he was
playing in living flesh, rather his music was playing.

offline pigster from melbs on 2008-09-01 04:42 [#02233572]
Points: 4480 Status: Lurker

even then, i can't imagine hearing ochre playing anywhere!
he might be on a record label, but he's still just a small
electronic artist :P

I, for one, would probably soil my trousers (in disbelief)
if I wound up at a party where ochre was on the stereo. I've
never been to a single party where half-decent electronic
music was being played.

Lemodie is good but my absolute favorite of his works is A
Midsummer Nice Dream, I still want to buy it original, if
somebody where I can order it please give me a shout

of the releases i think Lemodie is my favorite but there are
these one off tracks like "Neoretro" aka "Analady" and his
Global Goon remixes that just explode my brain.

haven't heard the d/l EP yet. and a huge FUCKYOU to
Benbecula for pulling that limited CD-R run for subscribers
only bullshit. twats.
