i used to do everything at 128 but now i have a huge
harddrive 320/kps.

itunes-crap for anything else, but is functional for a
straight forward tag & rip.

I use EAC + LAME V2, I see no point in 320k mp3s, they're
just a waste of space

for music: lame v2 or 0 (most music depending on the type of
sounds) and flac (a few favourites). Vorbis Q 7 for
electronic music(or other very demanding music where mp3
doesn't meet the requirements)

for movie audio: Nero AAC q 0.18 hev2(HEAAC with forced
parametric stereo) this results in +/- 48 kb/s audio

Depends on bitrate. If I'm borrowing a CD I know I should
buy I'll purposely rip at a bad bitrate so I kinda force
myself to buy it somehow. I've begun ripping my own at 320
kbps, mainly to do the stereo difference stuff I'm working
on.

with a disc scratched beyond repair.

i haven't ripped a cd in ages, but when i download i prefer
v0 or v2. i can deal with 256 kbps, but lower than that i'll
try to find better if it's something i really listen to.

i dont rip cds at all because every new cd i buy
is already dled to my hdrive. i want to know
what i buy first to see if its worth buying it at all.

and all the cds i had before the mp3 age started
can be played from my cd-player...

many samplers don't like mp3s ...if you wanna pay around
with sounds try wav or something your progs like to use or
as high a bit rate as possible....every year drive space is
cheaper. anyway.

AAC 320k

the best compromise in quality and space if you have a
decent setup.

I used to rip all in V0, but now I have been ripping again
everything to V4 for my iPod. With all the background noise
always around me, it's useless to rip in a higher bitrate,
most of times i can't notice the difference, so I prefer to
save space since it's only a 30gb

by the way, does any of you have problems with iTunes? I
have this bug when I extract the audio from any cd, iTunes
cuts the last 2 seconds from the last track in every cd.

Also, it's secure mode it's not very secure, I can hear some
clicks/glitches with some cd's. That is the main reason why
I use EAC, it really can find if there are some errors on
the extraction.

That's more than what the CD is sampled. I just want what's
on the CD to be on the hard drive. That's all.

I can really here the difference in sound quality when it
comes to mp3s. I don't like mp3s and I stay away from them
if I can. I have an external hard devoted to music files.
Almost all my albums are on the hard drive copied in wav
format, and there's a whole lot of room left for more CDs to
be added in wav format.

I play my music files with iTunes and send that through a
toslink from my computer to a stereo system. It sounds
bliss, especially loud. I can really hear the difference
between mp3 and wav, especially when loud. Kids today don't
care musch for audio quality. That is sad.

the most sensational difference i've heard from the mp3 to
the cd is with Burial's second album 'Untrue'. while it's
clear thats theres some extra goodness to hear if you
purchase a record, either on cd or vinyl instead of just
downloading it, it's also true that the quality of a record
is highly subjective, and on a broader sense it has a small
relevance to the aim of the music itself.
