oh, you didn't get to see the GOOD LIST.. which was an open directory list of all those files which i promptly wget -r'd and now have the full 8gb of mad old games to do with what i please. you're right, the list does look much better when highlighted in blue and underlined... |

Every home needs a MAME unit (including mine!) I have full rom sets for the snes and megadrive, which I play via my PS2. Some of the games were simply fantastic and bring back a lot of great memories. I do think games have improved quite a bit for the most part, but there are undeniable classics of old which still need regular inspection. |

I used to download a lot of old games -- had a CDr stuffed with SNES ROMS, a couple of DVDrs of old PC games. Then I realised: I NEVER PLAYED THEM! Occasionally I would play Commander Keen or Railroad Tycoon, even Dizzy... but the others.. nah. I guess I'm just not a born gamer :[ |

hahaha wget, it's embarresing that everyother post has a unix reference, and it's worse that im enough of a nerd to use wget instead of fireferret's default downloader. on the plus side, ive just come back from the pub having spent the eveving with 4 lovely girls and I've had to re-write most of these words due to drunken typos. I'm glad you're not sharing any of these games. people expect everything to be handed to them on a gold platter these days. I think I might just do a recursive wget on the whole of zilty just see what happens....arrgghhh sozzled. BTW was sim city 2000 really 1993?? I can't believe that! |

genesis (w 6 button controller) is better than snes imo, more better games and no ass shoulder buttons that screw up street fighter. But NES is the best evar, if you can make it work. snes vs. genesis debate is the oldest in the trade (well, no it's not, but let's pretend it is...). I would side with snes just because I can easily name twenty masterpieces on that console, whereas on genesis i honestly haven't come across many lasting classics beside the obvious choices... but to each his own. |

yeah. genesis (megadrive! :P ) was also amazing, but the snes was the one that did it for me. hehe last year or so, devoted a bit of time into getting a working nes. ended up buying a refurbished nes from someone who knew what they were doing, and works 100% :D |

yeah! i bought this old nes, which worked from time to time, so i bought a new connector off ebay, and ttried to replace it myself. absolutely murdered the poor thing : ( but yeah, i dunno if its true or not, but the people who make the new connectors claim that the originals were of poorer quality and over time wore out, in contrary the new, longer lasting ones. either way, im just happy i can play a game and not have to worry about it fucking up on me. |

oh yeah, and i watched that history of video games vid. i've pretty much read most of it from wiki, but it really shows how much of a mess it all was. loved how extreme some of it was, with traditional music cues playing when talking about nintendo :D |

I gave my SNES to my little cousin. I was aghast and totally disgusted to do so but I didn't want to be a dick. I would never give away my Genesis though. The processor is XTREME, faster than Skynet. It's been a long time since I've played an old game*, 2007 has been the second or third best gaming year ever, no time. But I've got a big backlog and I'll at least be replaying Fallout/Metal Gear Solid/Deus Ex/etc in anticipation of the upcoming sequels. *other than NHL 94, which I've been playing nonstop since 1993 |

I connected my MegaDrive the other day and booted Sonic, it was shit. Nostalgia am cry totalement, une merde. SNES is still good if you modded it to play at 60Hz, Super Mario World is a classic that I enjoy replaying along with Zelda LTTP. Oh and all the Amiga games, I still need to finish Wings, the last time the floppies crashed and I lost my progress :( Need to get an A1200 with HD. PC old games never interested me, apart from the point and click games games there's really not much to play. |

Nintendo Wii is better than anything I played as a kid. Loads of cool casual games like that "Crayon Physics". GTA4 is out soon.. Just 'cause there's loads of rubbish 1st person shooters and an obsession with teh epic graphics doesn't mean everything sucks. |

aye, Grim Fandango was the last great adventure game. Although I give a special nod to The Longest Journey which came out in '99 or 2000. Never really got into Monkey Island 4 all that much. |

Couldn't get into MI:IV much either..didn't even get off that first island. might have to give it another go some day... Rather enjoyed Broken Sword 2, but haven't followed the series since it turned 3D action (it could be good). I didn't mind Indiana Jones 3D: infernal machine but often games are best remembered from the golden 2D days |

broken sword 3 and 4 were OK. I enjoyed them, but they were sort of clumsy and unpolished. On the other hand, The Longest Journey and its sequel, Dreamfall, have almost single-handedly kept the tradition of adventure games alive. Syberia is another supposedly good game, but I haven't played it, or its sequel. Also, the latest Sam and Max games, delivered in episodic content, have been superb, witty and fantastically clever. |
