i wasnt there by the time,
what kind of collab was it?
definetly not a simple remix...

- at the heart of it all (created by aphex twin, written by
reznor---> on NIN album)

- the beauty of being numb (Section A Recreated by Nine Inch
Nails with Sean Beavan & Brian Pollack. Section B created by
Aphex Twin. ---> discogs)

In 1994 Richard met Trent at a festival in California, both
expressed mutual appreciation for each others work. Like a
lot of pop stars there was the usual "hell we must work
together, get together on something". But this time a truly
unique collaboration took place. Trent got his people to
send some material to Richard's hideaway deep in London's,
England. Richard took the sounds apart, threw them away,
found some of his old unreleased tracks, and sent them to
his agent with a 50 pound note with the words "will this
do?" smeared in human feaces on it. Trent literally thought
it was so good he had the tracks released on some marketing
based, fan fleecing "remix" album, the history of NIN & AFX
was forever sealed in the Halls of Lazy Contractual
Timewastes.

it might be my bad memory but did anyone remember reading at
some point when the next NIN album came out they might tour.
It probably was a rumor started up by the press, but the
next NIN album didn't come out until what 2000, 2001 (even
though Drukqs came out around the same time it never
materialized) Plus Trent opted to go the guitar/rock route
instead of the electronic sound

it would be cool if it happened and i would go to see Aphex
with NIN, but leave when nin starts playing. I've seen them
twice and it wasn't anything to write home about other than
the light show. I wonder what RDJ thinks of Trents new
sound direction vice versa...and what they think about each
others hair cuts, i know you guys do

I'm relistening to this album again; its been a long time.
At the heart of it all definately sounds
icarebecauseyoudoish and one made with his asthma inhalers.

‡ "Ruiner (version)" (remixed by Clouser) – 5:35 is my
favorite.

"definetly not a simple remix..."

...eeh, what? - it's just two tracks (entirely made by rdj)
with some of the sounds p o s s i b l y from the nin source
material - other than that it's just afx-stuff and a
workingmethod quite similar to the lemonheads remix...
anyway, they're great tracks!

he even said something along the lines of never hearing any
nin material

yes trent did want to take afx out on tour, but it never
happened :(

"James later expressed a desire to tour with Nine Inch Nails
and incorporated samples from the NIN track "Heresy" into a
live set with Chris Cunningham."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/26_Mixes_for_Cash

But this is much better...

"Missy Elliott's quite luscious - I like her," James
enthuses. "She's pretty interesting. I'd like to do a track
with her. She's quite on the voodoo vibe, I think."
