dance music!

har har har

Actually, I personally get off on 80's. I can dance to 80's
all night long baby.

Hip-Hop is always fun but then I would have to go to a club
for that & the radio hip hop sucks.

Everything. Although it's less dancing and more just acting
out the movements of the song with my hands and feet. It
looks like I'm having a seizure.

to get some idea what sort of music to pick to get people
dance. it's really weird..they always dance/not dance to
different music so i need a wide selection or something

I can tell you that my absolute favorite song to "dance" to
is Dial by Autechre.

I honestly find all these "IDM" stuffs the best to dance to.
Nothing beats Autechre or Squarepusher or Druqks for abit
of a boogy. yeah.

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2007-11-21 07:27 [#02146339]

and Jimmy Edgar.

Yeah, you can go crazy to idm, but depends on how drunk
people are

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2007-11-21 07:33 [#02146345]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

dunno..i tend to leave out idm..a song here and there maybe,
but generally i go for more straight rhythms..it's kinda
silly sometimes. chicks want something more 'organic', guys
want prodigy or some shit like that..i get stupid questions
like "this is good, but do you play any known songs?"...

offline afxNUMB from So.Flo on 2007-11-21 07:35 [#02146346]

Yup. Like I said. If they can sing to it they'll dance to
it. Mostly guys want something their chicks can rub their
asses on their cocks.

Britney Spears- Toxic

You can't go wrong with Windowlicker... everyone can
get live to that.

well, im sort of not allowed to play music like that, but
people do get off to sonic youth or something..new
order..maybe some more pop oriented stuff to but older,
nothing new.

i play some aphex sometimes..and i often get asked what that
was afterwards..always a pleasure haha

it's music like thisi found very danceable, but i
don't think other people think so to..what is it that im
missing?

i dont use to dance, really,
only if im drunk enough,
then i dance anything everything.
the music that motivates more my body for moving,
is, no doubt, drum'n'bass,
even if it is shit i dont care...

I can dance to anything (and i do it like a god) . The most
fun to dance to is old soul and funk music where you can do
very silly yet smooth moves from that era . I love that
hehe! .

offline PS on 2007-11-21 08:00 [#02146371]

Yeah, people mostly only like dancing to music that makes
them happy.

right, i'll check those..as for people getting drunk..after
4, 5 hours everyone is completly vasted..i should bring the
'heavy' stuff in gradually..hard to get it right though..

melack, i love drum and bass to dance to myself as
well..nothing better than some really dark and heavy
dnb..jungle too for that matter

yeah, some funk definitelly goes down well..i usually start
with that then move to oldschool hip hop/electro like grand
master flash, with lots of funky breaks..but i really want
place to go mental but i haven't found the music for that
yet as music i find mental to go to, most other people don't

offline afxNUMB from So.Flo on 2007-11-21 08:04 [#02146377]

I've made a graphical representation of how the likeliness
of me dancing to a certain kind of music (x) is depending on
the units of alcohol I have consumed (y). Jazz' position is
determined also by the attitudes of other people attending
Jazz concerts, but ideally its position would be closer to
the left.

Jazz is, of course, invisible, and you will never know when
I dance to it.

I dance
to 50s rock and roll
to 60s pop
to 70s punk
to 80s electropop
to 90s techno

and yes, I know I am missing lots of stuff, I just wanted it
to look definitive

Agreed on the DnB . Even a 90 old Nazi with a constipation
moves to that shit!
And the people who complains to the dj and ask him to
change the music keeps skanking a bit while doing the
bitching haha!

Anyway, you must be doing a good job tolstoyed. I understand
that you want to better your skills & its hard to be a crowd
pleasure but fuck em dude... make them like that idm shit,
people need to step out of the box for a while... you might
even get a better crowd.

right..i think like that sometimes but then im always kinda
scared i'd play something really danceable but no one would
dance to..but i guess i could try that for like half an hour
and if no one digs it i can always change back to something
they like eehh

yeah, acid house is splendid..eventhough chicks don't find
it particulary danceable..and when they don't dance, guys
don't dance hehe
