After the first listen I thought it was 60/40 on the side of real. Now after hearing it with headphones a couple of times, I'd say that I'm almost fully convinced its Ae. It has enough of their structural and sonic hallmarks to suggest it is them. but enough new elements to suggest they have evolved their sound. Its much more snappy, banging, dancier and minimal than most Ae, but I think its just a creative decision to make a more in-your-face album, not a badly made hoax. If it is a fake then I'd love to hear more of the artist who made them if they are skillful enough to produce such masterful hoaxes that make a seasoned Autechre fan like myself think it is them. I think its much more simple and minimal (basically a nice way of saying it sounds flat and untextured) and so it sounds like a step back from complex worlds of Draft and Confield. But when you stop comparing it to other albums and stop trying and find a chain of continuity and instead just put your headphones and and BAM let LCC kick your ass then it doesn't matter anymore. |

key, guys; its obviously autechre they played fermium on radio 1 and it matched the one on leak 1. the real question is; are these outtakes or is it the real untilted album? my vote goes for the former. so in that regard i say it's fake. and since im on the topic, why? 1. the released draft on a cassette, why release the real album on cd when they knew it would be leaked? and so early too. 2. it's not the types of songs they would choose for an album, they only choose the top quality stuff. in regards to sounds and depth. 3. i think they are releasing this to give our ears a surprise when the real one is out. now everyones going to think "oh they've gone more mainstream and such" and then when the real one is out everyones head will be blown back. |
