Ok.. so if anyone is interested in another round of this,
let's just do it.. again; four or five artists are required.
I'll await some feedback before I continue.

Brilliantly executed, sires. :)

curbcreeper and vlari: do you want to participate?

if so, bass, drums, melody, accompagniement and sounds are
available...

this time around, I think the key won't matter, but maybe we
should decide on a "theme" for the song... "flowing" or
"minimal" or something like that..?

ermmm the only thing i'd be able to do is drums or noise so
i think i'll pass. it is a really interesting idea though.

my initial comment was regarding track1/150BPM

yeah, I figured that.. I think my use of the word "feedback"
was kind of misplaced... heheh...

offline r40f from qrters tea party on 2005-02-02 16:08 [#01485394]
Points: 14210 Status: Regular

What is this?

Well.. I had this idea.. get several music-makers together
and make a track. Each will make their part (one to bass,
one to melody, and so-on) without listening to the others'
part. A BPM and maybe a theme or scale is decided
beforehand, and when everyone is finished, it is mixed by
one of the participants or preferrably a person that only
does mix.

yeah, that would probably have been better to post..
heheh... my organizing skills aren't too high, are they?!
hahaha!

another thing for anyone who wants to join: don't sign up if
you know you won't be able to do it right now (or rather..
as soon as all the artists are gathered, but.. "now"). You
may display interest in participating on a later track,
though...

just a thought: setting guidelines actually helps some
people get creative. in addition, more rules beforehand
will ensure better results in the end. if this is how you
want to do it, you're going to wind up with a very
dischordant, atonal and random-sounding track. to get any
sort of cohesion, you should really set up some parameters
(key and tempo are most important).

Points: 35867 Status: Lurker | Followup to r40f: #01485398 | Show recordbag

ok, then...

How about an easy, slow one.. 100bpm, 4/4, A minor (all the
white keys from A to A).. and with kind of an ambient feel
(although not quite)?

offline Drunken Mastah from OPPERKLASSESVIN!!! (Norway) on 2005-02-02 16:18 [#01485408]
Points: 35867 Status: Lurker | Followup to Drunken Mastah: #01485404 | Show recordbag

btw: A minor has C major as its.. erh... I don't know the
terms, but "secondary scale," which means they work
together... however, in this case, A minor is all the white
keys from A to A, and C major is all the white keys from C
to C, which basically are the same keys, and, in fact, ALL
the white keys and none of the black ones...

100 bpm
4/4
A Minor
use these notes only: A B C D E F G A

-----------------

there's a bunch of artists online now that i really like, i
hope they sign up.

yeah, but I think the thread title may be a turn-off in a
way.. maybe I should have named the thread
"project/experiment" again...

I'll bump the old one for "background."

in case anyone is confused, we are waiting for people
(anybody at all who is serious) to say, "i am going to make
x part for this right now, here i go!"

x = bass or drums or melody or
accompaniment or some noises

offline dariusgriffin from cool on 2005-02-02 16:36 [#01485425]

I can try to add some noises if you want maybe.

offline dariusgriffin from cool on 2005-02-02 16:37 [#01485426]

We could also make some kind of jazz thing and everyone
should make some kind of solo. That would be funny.

that sounds great! if people want to do that more, this
could easily be turned... nothing should be set in stone
before the final "go!"

..and yeah, you can do sounds.

so, this far:

mix: r40f
sounds: dariusgriffin
bass: ---
melody: ---
accompagniement: ---
drums: ---

the drums should be done right now, and mailed to r40f. no
linking in the thread...

btw.. everyone should do about 16 bars of what they're doing
unless they mean for it to be looped...

mix: r40f
sounds: dariusgriffin

errhh.. 16 bars @ 100 bpm 4/4...

how is that, then? ..never been good at maths, but I
think...

16*4/60.. 1,06

approximately one minute?

i think what became apparent from the last one is that the
length of each part is not that important because it could
easily be cut up or looped anyway.
