First track!

So besides my Autechre remix, this is the first track I'm
putting out to the public, and it's definitly still in the
works. It's a very basic framework of the symphonic IDM I
want to be doing later, hence a lot of chordal transitions.
Plus it's badly mastered right now, working through it again
as I write this but wanted some feeback before that was
done, especially on the transitions, or any advice.

I'm redoing it as a dance mix to throw on an EP with a
couple other tracks I've finished, will have that up in the
next week or so.

Hope you guys enjoy it...

the more I listen, the more I like.

The begining seems confused, but the voices, vox, whatever
harmony plays in the background really keeps it all
together

by the middle of the song, I am deeply involved in the
music.

The flute, i don't know, the harmonies really carry the
song.

This is really good music. It is kind of inbetween glitch
and ambient with the melodies. Keep at it mate, this is
good shit and can only get better.

Thanks for the encouragement... there are only a couple
parts I think I really got the vocals to fit, trying to
rearrange the beginning subtlely to fit more, I'll put an
updated version as soon as I can.

As for dance version... yeah... bad wording, glad you could
see past it

I think it's the best I've made so far... I'll post a couple
of my older tracks maybe in a few days, or something new if
I get some inspiration over the weekend.

I think the mix still has some problems with compression and
some other weird sounds I can't quite put my finger on...
maybe just overloading my processor from the VSTs or
something. Who knows. Anyways, it sounds WAY better in
headphones with the more isolated sound scape, on my
monitors it's a little dry, but I'm happy with it all the
same.

when mastering, make sure all frequencies do not overlap or
get bloody/sloppily mixed... monitor with your speakers
(what kind may i ask...) not head-p's... keep it real, you
know what to do though! hehhe! hah!

Using Studiophile SP-5B, the M-Audio speakers... cheap, and
WAY better quality than anything else I heard save the
Mackies. Good mid/high ranges, although I'm missing a
subwoofer for some real bass mixing.

Yeah, I've found the mid-range frequencies tend to melt
together a lot and make it sound more muddy, I tried using
some sound placement to reduce that effect, happy with the
way that came out

Kadath is one of the cities H.P. Lovecraft wrote about... it
also has personal video game meaning... sort of a double
entendre

Is this the Day of the Very Good Tracks or something? I have
to do more downloading here on Fridays.

Nice blend of abstract and dance. Kind of like a thicker
grottier Posthuman.

I mostly agree with what everybody else said. I'm not that
into the 'beepy' type stuff, but I still see how this is
good.

And it's mastered fine. But that's coming from me.

loved it... did you use samples from a track on ICBYD
because some of it sounds very familiar.

anyway, i like how densely this is packed and the slick
production. and it's not a "polished turd" either, the
rhythm and choice of "instruments" (sounds) are really
excellent. looking forward to your next track.

Actually this is a really nice track. I'm with blatant echo
on this - the more I hear it the more I like.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO DOWNLOAD THIS.

Nice track man.

How long have you been making music (not just electronic if
you've done other stuff aswell), and how old are you? I'm a
newb and am going to start soon once i get a dedicated
Windows box. What programs have you used/do you use? Any
good sites you know of that helped you out in the beginning?
Ta.

hey nice track dude (i take it; so flame me)! a tad
repetitive, i'd say, though, particularly with the high
pitched percussion, but it is a very lovely melody and the
structure itself doesn't bore. it reminds me a bit of some
of l'usine's tracks (which i love). keep at it!

Come back from the weekend and see my thread still up...
thanks!

I've been doing electronica for just under 12 months

I've been playing classical piano for 14 years, with one
year break, so 13 total. I've played in an orchestra and
jazz groups during that time as well. I have training, and
it helps a lot.

I started with Reason 2.0. I love it for beginning, it
allowed me to add modules in as I got better. Check that, I
started on a Roland 307, but was too complicated, then moved
to computers. Been back on the drum machine a bit lately.

Yes, on the repetitiveness. I think it works because it
forces the ear to start listening to the other parts in the
song... if it was repetitive in the background too, I
wouldn't have liked it if it didn't keep me interested.

I used no sounds from RDJ or any other artist... save mozart
for the vocals.

You guys have no idea how motivational all this positive
feedback is... I seriously am planning on pushing as hard as
possible to do electronic music as my focus for life. I'll
have more out soon, after finals are done this week.

I really like the structure of this song. I agree on the
repetitiveness working to force "the ear to start listening
to the other parts in the song"

When someone (artist) does it correctly it can work. When
someone does it based on lack of knowledge of music creation
it shows. You clearly have an understanding of what it takes
to make music.

Talent, for the most part, is something you are born with.
Perfected overtime to achieve the end result or goal. In
this case it obviously shows that you both have talent (as
shown in this track) and were born with it (as it was part
of your life for quite sometime).

Continue to pursue this goal and when you meet a roadblock
or obstacle remember that it is only challenging your
talent. Prevail!

Great start! I look forward to hearing more from you down
the road.
