Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other,
and I've seen a lot of strange stuff. But I've never seen
anything to make me believe that there's one all-powerful
Force controlling everything. There's no mystical energy
field that controls MY destiny.

Yeah but not in a religion way or a human like figure it's
more abstract like a math equation that generated our
universe or simply put Nature.

The thing that I've always hung my hat on as to the
existence of some sort of God is the simple question of who
or what is responsible for placing MY soul and mind into MY
body. When I was born, why was I suddenly aware in the body
of a baby being born in the midwest of the US and not
elsewhere.

In my mind, there has to by some type of organization or
system involved there... as to what exactly, who knows.

How is it that we aren't just a bunch of constant
reactions. How do we actually FEEOOLLL what we are
experiencing and doing and feeling?

We "FEEOOLL" these things cause we need to , to funktion as
a living organism. A marble or a floor doesn't need to.
We humans have highly developed IQ's cause thats "our thing"
as a species ( ehm..virus ) , same as the spider has its web
and the elephant has its size and pamela anderson has her
tits.
Other animals have a consciousness too and use it to
comunicate and experience feelings etc...
We are just on a higher level cause thats what we needed to
have to survive .

An ant in a colony of milions doesnt need to moorn when a
fellow ant dies but an Elephant that looses a
friend/relative that he has traveled and lived with for 10
years do.

These things are not strange to me personaly.

But a more unexplainable and frightening thought is the fact
that the universe has no begining and no end both
timewise and sizewise
. This thing could seriously cause
braindamage to me if i think about it to much. Its like
staring at the sun to long.

No wonder people come up with silly things as Religion and
Gods.

Get it into your brains. You are no different to the ants,
flies or mosquitoes sucking your blood. The only thing that
differentiates you from them is conscious thought, which has
made you believe you are somehow better or more intelligent
than any other animal alive on this planet. The fact is
you're not.

On the contrary, if anything humans are far more stupid than
other animals as they live a world of theories and
philosophies that mean absolutely nothing whatsoever,
whereas animals use their senses to the fullest and exist
far more intelligently and in tune with their surroundings.

All humans seem to do is witlessly destroy, not only their
environment but each other. And before someone says it, no
it's not someone else's fault, it's YOUR FAULT. We have
created the world we want to live in and should take full
responsibility for it and our own actions. Don't blame
politician and presidents, you ARE the politicians and
presidents, born out of YOUR value system.

Is there a god? There's no proof, and to believe in
something without tangible evidence is beyond idiotic. If
humans used their brains efficiently and sanely they
wouldn't even ask such as stupid question.

That an ant exist beautifully with the rest of the eko
system has nothing to do with it being more intelligent then
us.

Other then that im totaly with you.

animals are not smarter because they only use their senses
and not abstract thought, there's no comparisson with how
humans work

there's no My valuesystem, things are more intricate than
that

people can function fine despite believing in God: screw off
with your absolutist atheist believes

Yep. Humans are vastly more intelligent than other
species. This manifests itself in tangible form in our
increased adaptability and ability to survive (developing
winter coats to survive in extreme weather, means of
carrying water in the desert). Increased intelligence isn't
just about wasting time on philosophy and religion (both of
which I agree can be a waste of time/effort). I can see the
point that our higher thought might make us less moral, or
pure as a species, but not that it makes us less
intelligent.

Oh and adopting atheism in a manner akin to a religion is
spectacularly hypocritical (not to mention quite amusing to
those who see the irony of it).

offline Barcode from United Kingdom on 2007-11-01 04:03 [#02139692]

Dinosaurs survived for hundreds of millions of years, did
they need a winter coat? By comparison, in a relatively
short space of time humans have killed hundreds of millions
of their own for an "idea", they make their natural food
sources extinct and are threatening to destroy themselves
through global warming and nuclear war. Doesn't seem very
intelligent to me.

The intellectual mind is no match for the innate
intelligence of the natural body, something which ALL
animals share.

Maybe you like to THINK you're more intelligent than an ant,
but in fact you're not. Certainly as far as nature is
concerned you are no more useful.

Other animals use what they have to its fullest capacity
24/7, whereas conscious man doesn't even know how to live
properly. The disastrous value system they have created and
the stupidity of trying to remodel it through revolution is
a proven failure and will probably see man's extinction in a
much shorter time scale than many other animal species.

Regarding atheism, I find your comment without justification
and ignorant. I do not believe in god or not believe in
god, I don't believe in anything - I am not even asking the
question. I am not an atheist, agnostic, buddhist monk or
whatever other rubbish you want to pin on me. It's precisely
this intellectual modelling of each other that causes so
much divisiveness and conflict.

God knows how long conscious humans have been on the planet
and they still can't get past the colour of anothers skin.
They don't even understand the basic principle of
co-operation for survival, something other animals have
mastered without even doing anything. To presume the
intellect has made you more an intelligent functioning
animal is ignorant, not to mention arrogant.

Are you into electronic music? If so, why are you into it?
What purpose as an animal does it serve? If you say
reproduction, why are you into IDM, why not meat-market
dance music and top 40? Surely music for recreation (as
opposed to attracting a mate) is one of these false higher
intellectual ideals you find so abhorrent?
