yes, now - i didnt use the term idm, so that got rid of all the meaningless discussions evolving around that genre. all i want is some suggestions regarding new artists. please be sure to exclude warp, rephlex, planet-mu and skam as i've heard all their recent releases. some of the things i have a high opinion of these days are artists such as: claro intelecto, andy stott, wisp, lusine, proem, ochre - i have a feeling that im missing out on a few essential artists.

There is a new Proem album called "A Permanent Solution" that came out 2 or 3 months ago. It kinda went under the radar.
And as always I have to recommend Lustmord- Heresy even though it's not new.

Yeah, I really enjoy A Permanent Solution - one of my favourites these days. Same with his You Shall Have Ever Been. Both of them are considered masterpieces in my book. I'll check out Lustmord. Please be sure to keep them coming.

The first track of Heresy makes me think of the doc from back to the future, and hes went back in time to this primordial age, but the car ended up in this pitch black cavern with no exist. and he's screaming for marty. listen and you will hear it too.

I always thought they sounded a bit too .. cheesy, kind of. Like Rammstein cheesy, almost. I dunno.
I don't really follow much new electronica as there is an overwhelming lot of it (and I have no idea where to begin), lately I've been having nostalgic listens to the early Planet µ releases, back when the label was fresh and optimistic. When it released quirky, goofy stuff that wasn't there because it was in a "hot seller" genre. Capitol K, Frog Pocket, Lexaunculpt, Joseph Nothing, OOO, Kettel, Bit_Meddler etc.. If you haven't already, I really recommend checking out the earlier releases on µ, they've got far more charm and warmth than 95% of what they release now (Boxcutter and a few others excluded).

i dont really know, you should try turning off the lights, lie down on your bed with your headphones on a high volume. its absolutely horrifying if you have a bit of imagination.
and by the way, thank you for making me aware that there is a lot of earlier music that my ears havent enjoyed yet. the early planet mu releases is some of them. also, boxcutter, saw him a few months ago - great concert, absolutely loved what he did and then i forgot about it again. im going to check out a few releases by him, can you recommend me a an album?

I fell in love with Svarte Greiner lately. I don't know if it's your cup of tea, though. After listening for an hour the best comparison I could come up with with my limited knowledge of the scene is somewhere between Murcof, Nurse With Wound and some kind of dark chamber.

nah, they're great... gotta see them live if they ever should come close to where you live. Very ironic stage performance... darkened room, with dimmed spotlights on their hands... a fluorescent skull on the bassdrum, two basses and double bass, dark suits, and funny dark anecdotes between the songs... don't take them serious at all... and check out the album Geisterfaust...

Great thread. I'll be checking out a lot of these recommendations.
Chuck - have you listened to Mouse on Mars before? They are fairly well-known, but I decided to list them here since, as far as I know, they've never put out a record on warp/rephlex/skam etc. They have a pretty strange sound, ranging from techno to just weird, with heavy analog sounds and also live instruments in some tracks (guitar, and I think drums as well.) I have a feeling you already are well aware of them, but I figured I'd list them just in case.

i must admit there are many parts that are to loose ..but very often a section will just envelop me into an organic orchestrated aphex dream world. tits like a john willams ,miles davis , aphex mash up to me...got so many great qualities.

Infinite Scale on Toytronic and now the Boltfish lable is probably one of the best, least talked about, most underated artists i can think of. right up there with Ochre in composition value and arguably more organic and fluid. Harmi (his real name) is working on his first full length for Boltfish now. hopefully a 2008 release but who knows - maybe earlier.
definatly check his two EPs out.
and then the mighty Ulrich Schnauss, if you've not heard him.
