yeah i'm disappointed capacity isn't much bigger, i was so
looking forward to the ipod touch.

At least the new 'classic' model is 80GB and 160GB, i think
i'll get one of these an get a touch in a few years when
flash can reach much larger capacities.

eh i'll just keep my current one until it dies or the newer
models exceed 60 gigs or more...so pissed. i was totally
looking forward to getting one when i thought it was
160gigs...fuck

storage space doesn't matter, it has wifi and means it can
be hacked to stream content, theyve already done it with the
iphone with tversity

now if only it had video out!

i've only got a shuffle at the mo so the 'classic' is
perfect for me...

the nano's are tiny!

Do flash drives get as big as 80 - 120 GB? They probably
prioritised slimness instead of a bulky harddrive player.

no, 32Gb is the maximum atm. and putting one of those in
would double the prize. the flash memory alone would be
worth $500.

and about that touchy/feely pod: it's a friggin iphone
without the phone, godammit. pretty redundant if you ask me.

no actually

considering the game that Apple are playing, in respect that
they are only allowing certain network providers to sell the
iPhone (currently only AT&T in the US, god knows who in the
UK) some people may want similar functionality but without
having to take out a second contract with a network.

i personaly took out a 2 year contract with Orange a few
months back, and i don't particularly wanna have to phone
contracts on the go.

so it's not redundant at all. and i'm sure i'm not the only
person who's in this situation.

having said that, i'm still disappointed with the capacity.
and 32GB flash isn't $500....it's $350.

also i'm sure that Apple would be able to twist some execs
arms to get them a good deal.

...one more thing that kinda pisses me off about apple. i
have a 5th gen ipod...even though it seems like a software
thing i won't be able to get cover flow and the new menu for
my ipod...

and yea its flash storage totally for looks. i don't care
personally, so long as its portable and fits in my pocket
i'm good.

looks like a shit waste of time, even if you only bought one
to look cool

them "hey is that an iphone?"

you "nah, it just plays music"

them "i see"

you "...can i suck your balls?"

hmm, now that i come to think of it 16GB isn't that bad,
just had a look at my itunes library and i can fit almost
200 albums on there, most at high quality 320AAC, i could
always sell it on ebay before the next update comes out :)

offline OK on 2007-09-05 15:49 [#02117541]

so what's the price? it would sure be cool to have a
portable wi fi thing

offline thecrimsonguard from ∞ (United States) on 2007-09-06 06:09 [#02117668]

8GB= $300
16GB= $400

or you could get the 'classic' for $350 with 160GB of
storage...

i guess you could stream your music via the internet
(through safari, like some iphone users do) but, that kinda
sucks if you're on a road trip...or not near a wi-fi area

oscillik - yea, if they could smush 2 32flash memory chips
in one of those things i'd buy it without a doubt

does the classic have a glass screen? cause no scratches on
an 80gig classic would be pretty hot.

i'm not sure what the new screens are like. The big guys
have the ipod nano metal casing and i would prefer that
over my current one. i left my ipod in a 'protective' case
and there are more scratches on the thing than i can
count...next time i'm going without, so that should be 2012
when they can release an ipod touch with more than 8gb...

offline epohs from )C: on 2007-09-06 08:10 [#02117698]

I'm thinking it doesn't have a glass screen. At least, they
don't mention it on their tech spec page. I'm thinking they
probably would draw attention to that if they had made the
switch to glass.

Changed my mind, I want the 160Gig one, or if I wait until
after Christmas, then all the iPods will have the touch
screen thing I'm sure.

What the hell does the iTV thing do?

offline jules from United States on 2007-09-06 20:13 [#02117834]

i wouldnt count on that christmas thing 010101, theres no
way he'd upgrade these new ipods 2 months after they ship
for the first time, i would probably count on 16 and 32gb
touches in 8 months or so...

if you need a new ipod, i think the classics are the way to
go for now, but i think the classic should just be a one
color screen, i could care less about seeing my album art as
a 1" square, give me more battery life...im still on my 20gb
that i bought in 2003, i just rotate the tunes i put on
there every now and again, because who really needs to carry
3gb of miles davis at all times right?

bad quality? the touch screen on mine is excellent, i was in
two minds whether to get the classic or this as i have 40GB
of music but i'm glad i chose this instead. 16GB is the bare
minimum for me though, just about big enough for my best
albums.

I don't like touchscreens. They produce images that look
like buttons and they make button sounds, but they don't
physically button. I don't like that, I need to feel
something click beneath my fingers.

I don't like the original iPod click wheel either. I always
spin it too far or not fast enough for the alpabetized
shortcut screen to appear. I heard the Toshiba Gigabeat
players are pretty good.

iphone with out the phone part is the retardedest idea i
ever heard. so it will probably make mad cash. that's like
auto manufacturers coming out with cars that have no
engines. but hey you can still use the nav system and sit
inside listening to the stereo! hey cool! not. suck a

i'd like one too but my current ipod is only a year old so
it'll be a while. i don't think the capacity is too bad, i
have a 30g one atm and it's never had more than 12g on it
and my previous 2nd gen ipod never reached its 15g limit.
the 160g one is just insane. i guess they must be for ppl
who like to put video on them, i personaly never use mine
for that, just music. jesus, my entire music collection is
only about 70g, 160g seems slightly over the top unless,
like i said, u want it for videos.

time you want to change the music, since you cant feel the
