i think hello everything is boring

and i thought you would love to know that. hello meow and
the modern bass guitar are kind of catchy, but other than
that its a bore fest to me. vacuum garden and orient orange?
come on.

i really like the last track. it makes me rethink the entire
album after it plays.

It has it's moment but overall it is pretty dull.

plotinus may be his best track.

but planatarium, welcome to, plot even, ... even rotate ...

they all like, start out with something

then add another layer of drums
then another layer kicks in

kinda all the same setup (i don't know don't ask me)

plotinus is still the win.

the bass-heavy (no pun) live version of hello meow i fancy
MUCH more than the album track (which i find boring)...dunno
what iti s.

offline ecnadniarb on 2007-07-03 14:59 [#02099500]

plotinus is indeed a career high.

You probably prefer the live version to the album version
because the album version is sorely lacking in bass. The
whole album suffers because of its production values, imo. I
do like it, and I appreciate that he was trying to use more
dynamic contrast than is usual in electronic music, but the
weird EQ-ing, sudden volume bursts, and the general "sound"
of the record irritates me.

play the tracks in a dj set with other stuff and they'll
sound much better....Squarepusher was never an "album"
artist for me anyway.... live, loud, mixed - ramps it all
up
- they went down real well at the new years party i dj'd at
this year

rotate electrolyte is sqrpusher's girl/boy song.

lovely

Only listenened to it 2 or 3 times. That's all I could take.
The EQ is irritating and the songs are apart from perhaps
two totally irrelevant. I've flicked through the bonus mini
CD once and decided it was pants.

I agree about the lack of bass - annoying. this crowd member
did not give thansk.

The worst thing about this album is it is so similar to all
the other SP stuff I have, I feel like I've bought the same
album 8 times already.

I'm gunna try to listen to it tonight see if I was wrong.

enjoy it anyway.

well its got this professional studio sound, but sort of
older type of sound, like the luke vibert nuggets stuff.

i think you should first try to build a bassline similar to
the "welcome to europe" one

Good album, some standout tracks.

while we're on the EQ tip, what the hell is up with tetra
sync?

almost towards the end when the wah-peddle bass kicks in,
it's loud as fucking hell. ultra-annoying. i always have
to turn the volume way down at that part because it hurts my
ears.

the song would be almost perfect if it wasn't for that
ridiculously huge fuck-up.

not sure what he was going for there.
6:40ish

oh, and he does it @ 4:55 and on with the bass guitar.

it's so fucking loud, hurts my ears and i have to turn that
part down.

hell, now that i think about it, bubble life (the few notes)
stand out as being a touch too loud.

there are too many points in recent squarepusher tracks
where i have to turn down the volume for a few moments, let
that part pass, then turn it back up again. that's just
not right IMHO.

i wish this track "took off"
bubble life as it stands would make for an epic
introduction.

He needs to do a hard funk electronic album. Good tunes,
slam-dunking bass and fucked up beats and rhythms.

whatever you're on about i don't know.

that album is the goddamn reformation of Squarepusher. i
picked the thing back up this weekend and thought to myself,
"It is so great to hear something that isn't a big sloppy
fucking mess." he didn't cram everything digitally possible
in that time.

best SQP since Seletion Sixteen.

I thought Hello Everything was soft as lard. Cheesy ass
cotton candy melodies and bass-noodlings.... what happend to
the hard edge of Go Plastic!?

Def my least favorite Pusher album.

It's a great album with very many memorable tracks. On some
of the other records the tracks just kind of mush together
into a drilly mess. Here each one has its unique
personality. More simple and pared back, but just as
effective. Maybe his best album.

It's by far his best work to date. The Breaks seemed to be
sequenced better with previous releases, but the songs and
structures on this album are A++. Welcome to Europe is stuck
in my head all the time.

I can completely understand that for some people that want a
purely Electronic Squarepusher release that this is not it.
Personally I hope he makes a jump to more acoustic sounds
because , unlike most of the electronic producers using
acoustic sounds for gimmicks these days, he can actually
play them.

His drumming is pretty good too meng.

it's just a very positive, optimistic even, i'd say, album .
i can't recall as many mood-elevating albums as this one
from Warp etc. and i would never expect a new album, and a
mood-elevating one, from []pusher. it's a very positive
surprise, that's why i appreciate his music even more now.
for me he's just a bass player with great enthusiasm towards
music and huge interest in electronics. i used to view him
as the opposite, as another guy from warp toying with
computer and producing snare rushes, which is completely
wrong. those who think he's another guy from warp copying
aphex's "ideas" etc. are wrong too. period

I had this album since 2006 and just recently re-discovered
it. Favorite tracks: Hello Meow, Planetarium, Vacuum Garden,
Rotate Electrolyte and Welcome To Europe (being the best
one). Hell, I put Welcome To Europe as my ringtone.
