The most disturbingly offensive band (not in my collection) has gota be Mayhem: Drummer Hellhammer, who at one time worked in a mental hospital, is the only remaining member of the band's prime-period lineup. Lead vocalist Dead committed suicide in 1991 (two years after joining the band) by shooting himself in the head; Hellhammer made a necklace using some of his skull fragments, and Euronymous reportedly cooked and ate pieces of Dead's brain. Euronymous, in turn, was stabbed to death while in his underwear on August 10, 1993, by the band's bass player, Count Grishnackh (born Christian Vikernes). Grishnackh's alleged motive was jealousy over the fact that Euronymous had a more evil reputation; he inflicted 23 separate wounds, it was also rumored, so as to outdo rival band Emperor's drummer, Faust, who was convicted in the stabbing death of a homosexual acquaintance. When police arrested Grishnackh, they found over 150 kg of stolen dynamite in his house, complete with a plan to blow up a large church on a religious holiday. Thats just messed up. |

I tend to be interested in really disturbing stuff, especially if it is honest. This album "the eyes of stanley pain" by download is offensive, but it's also a very wicked listen... it doesn't seem like "a joke" at all like maralyn manson seems sometimes (well I really do like that song where he goes "when I'm god everyone dies!!"... also that one by nin "god is dead and no one cares, if there is a hell I'll see you there"... now that's an interesting mantra... "I keep falling down the same hill, bamboo puncturing the skin and nothing comes bleeding out of me just like the waterfall I'm drowning in..." The song at the very top of www.mp3.com/stations/blueberrymuffins is quite funny and scary at the same time. "I'll kill your dog with toenail clippers" etc. there's lots of great lyrics in that one, heh heh. |

I have an interesting story about that one..when I was in the states one of my flatmates was an ex-death metal/grindcore fan..turns out he was deep and heavy into this shit and had an underground network going with a fan zine and service selling demo tapes from unknowns obscures and garage metallers..(this was just before the days of WWW and mp3.com)..so I asked him..why did he stop?..after a bit of hesitation he showed me a hand done tape from a band whose name I blocked out and from where? a scandanavian country..once again I blocked the details and this is almost ten years ago..on this tape's cover was a picture that the band claimed they took themself..it was a picture of a dead womans vagina..with maggots crawling in and out of it...my flatmate said most of the songs on the tape were a mix of necrophilia and cannibalism(onlly about eating rotting corpses after screwing em)..he said it disturbed him so much that he was actually in contact with people like that..and that they actually knew his name address and were on the first name basis that it totall freaked him out and he dropped out the scene quitker than you can say MEAT |
