how much does a cd cost in your country? here in holland
new cds are as insanely expensive as 20 euros, which is 15
US dollars, i reckon.
i want to know what country i have to go to to get lower
prices ;)

16.50 euros or $14.44 - that's the normal price. in some
shops they are quite cheap, only 15.50 euros ($13.67).

And they still wonder why so many CDs get copied...

Well...I hate not having my fav. cd's, the originals, in my
collection... so i buy them anyway, no matter price. But
then i'll have to eat noodles for the rest of the month...

hehehe

sad ... but true
(i mean ... there are a lot of people downloading mp3s and
copy cds - i don't mind)

That would be a good question: How much would you pay for a
new cd?

generally idm stuff usually sells @ around 30-40NZ$ for new
stuff ... = ca. 15-20 US dollars.

ofcourse you can get cd's a lot cheaper .. usually 20 or 25
NZ, but idm is usually under "special import" - blah blah ..

($13.50) for a new CD.

CD's in the UK cost around £10 - £15 ...average price is
around £13..but depends on what you are buying/how popular
it is...

I've really slackened off buying CDs in the last few years -
I've got about 500 of the fuckers (probably a lot more if I
could be arsed to count) but that passion has died a
little...In fact, it's really rare for me to buy a CD that
isn't AFX...(and most of the stuff I want I get from
ebay..)...

if you're lucky debuts from smaller acts come in at £8.99
and there are a helluva lot of label samplers about going
for £3.99ish which is great

they are fucking expensive because the label takes about 40%
of the price and the artist gets about £1 for each CD sold.
i'd rather start a label than be an artist if that is
true...

in the cheaper shops.
In the expensive shops you pay GEOGADDI € 20,60.

$12-18 plus tax
The major companies set their prices so that you can't buy
new CDs for less than that. Its evil.

My brother works at Borders, where I get 75% of my cds, so I
get a third off the price, and that means I usually spend
$8-14 dollars for a cd (including the discount) when I shop
there. There's another place, Bert's music, which gets
really good cds and records, and sometimes I buy music
there, spending $9-10 for an EP (12") because they're
imported, and $8.50 for really good cds (used). I got MHTRTC
for $8.50, and I get the other 25% of my music online for
fairly cheap as well, $6-10.

Ebay, man, ebay. There are always people selling new
releases on ebay, and when there are a lot of people selling
stuff for relatively cheap, there arent always a lot of bids
on all of them. I got new releases and stuff on ebay for
6-10, yeah, well I could if I wanted, but I havent wanted
really many new releases recently, you could use eBay
though, trust me, it's like hella-oh shit

I often buy stuff from ebay, I found a few good deals on new
CDs but they were "promos" which I don't like to buy. I
always check there first before buying a disc, sometimes the
bidding is higher than buying new, which seems kind of
stupid to me.

I think Germany is the cheapest in Europe. There were a
group of artists who got together years ago to do something
about it. I think the mighty Dire Straits were involved.

I pick most stuff up on vinyl now at a cheaper price. I
don't buy many albums anymore, mostly 12"s at good prices.

go to CANADA......thats where i go to get CD's....ehehe
a & b sound and future shop specifically.

they have great prices on DVD's as well. HOWEVER....the
reason they are such a good price to me (an american) is
that our US dollar is kicking the Canadian dollar....so
everything is like half price to me in canada. =)

so i guess it's all relative =)

here in iowa prices seem to be around $14 or $15 dollars at
least at the local indie shop-of course if it is on warp it
might be a little more$18. In 3 years time I worked between
two different record shops in Ill. and I watched the prices
slowly rise from $15.99 to $19.99. actually I remember
carrying squarepusher's hard normal daddy import for $29.99
at one of the stores.

I dont think you people should complain about CD prizes.
Here in Iceland a new cd costs 2700 Ikr, which is about 28
US dollars!!
Dont ask me why but there are some stupid import taxes here.
:( For example a magazine that costs 2 pounds in Britain
costs about 10 here! This is the reason why I burn most of
my CD´s!

Anyway, I was going to Kirkwood, but took this semester off
do to me loosing my job and getting arrested several times.
I now work at the Panera Bread on the east side of Iowa
City. I actually am hoping to take a six-semester program
at the U to be an x-ray technition, lots of radiology
classes and stuff. If I complete it, I would be able to
start working right away at the VA hospital, because my mom
works there and she will hook me up, starting at about
$12-14 an hour, and they would also pay for some of my
future school. What kind of classes are you taking?

thats happened to me a few times to. what else do you like
besides idm or electronica? I'm not sure if you dig indie
stuff but there is a cool band called knife in the water
playing at the green room on the 28ththurs I believe. from
austin texas-kinda have a dark country sound. did you catch
the american analog set a couple months ago? they put on a
great show.

I like certain aspects of all music, but my main favs other
than electronic would have to be hip-hop and rock/classic
rock. American analog... not familiar with them, who are
they? I havn't went to many shows around here latly, but
that sounds kind of interesting. Are you gonna try to catch
the reflex tour when it goes through Chicago?

my uncle does something related to that-not sure what his
actual title is but he has always seemed to make a
comforable income. thats cool about the hook-up with your
mother at the va-hospital. I hope that works out. my major
is psychology. areas of interest within psych. would be
personality and abnormal and I'm leaning more towards
clinical work. thats a bummer about getting arrested. iowa
city has its fair share of cops don't they.

Yes, they sure as hell do, and they seem to not like me very
much either. I've always been interested in psychology

Well, I'm starten to get pretty tired, gonna hit the sack
(after hitting the bong on course). I'm sure we'll chat
again, I'm on usually on here a few times a day, and mabey
we could chill sometime, go hit some bars or something, give
me an E-Mail if your interested. Peace

Amanset is mellow, male vocals hushed and quiet, organs,
light brushing with the drums, v. underground sounding
guitars at times. if you like mellow dreamy lush stuff than
I recommend picking one of their albums up. they have the
cds at the r. collector. start with From Our Living Room To
Yours. with the exception of the newest record all their
albums have a flow to it. similar to pink floyd or old yes
in that the songs are linked together. probably talked to
much about them. anyway I really don't don't get into the
stuff on reflex. electronic stuff I dig... proem(probably
my favorite),arovane,phonem,tim tetlow, brothomstates,
sense, novel 23, r. devine, phonencia(sp?), and Ae. as far
as hip-hop goes I just picked up the the X-men and swollen
members.

I think I should probably get some sleep as currently I'm
down in centerville visiting my gram and we are going to
someplace on the square to have breakfast tomorrow. she
just told me that this town has the world's largest town
square? As she said it with a hint of pride I had to tell
that I was not aware of that. anyway, take care and maybe
sometime we could make a run to the record store together
and raid the electronic section. :)
