"Intellectual Property" - the funniest term to have ever
been invented by Lawyers to squeeze money out of the
bloodless stone.

Marlowe:
Elitism, tempting as it seems, is a choice of the moribund.
By its very nature, it restricts growth and expansion, to
the extent that it brings about its own demise.
It's good while it lasts, but the crash hurts.

OK, but customers have rights in the marketplace - does it
extend to the Intellectual Property of the Xltronic Forum?

After all, every business knows that it's nothing without
its customers.

Customers have rights, but no right to control the company.
They get to vote with their feet. If people don't like it
here, go somewhere else. The proprietor chooses how to run
the company.......... he might run it well (in your opinion)
or he might run it poorly (again, in your opinion)..... the
market will decide.

True, maybe not overt control but if a company isn't
satisfying its clientèle and is forced to make changes,
then the customers (or former customers!) have exercised
control over policy.

Also, I've noticed quite a few members saying this board is
dying, so maybe you're saying that reflects on the site's
owner and moderators?

Insofar as the intellectual property comment, this is
something he has come up with. It belongs to him and those
that helped code and develop it. Its something that he did
to help further the community, but its also his site. If he
wanted to close it down today he not under any kind of
obligation to answer to anyone for it. This is just the
nature of the internet.

Ezkerraldean never seemed so bad to me, so it's sad to see
him go....

But I'm glad as hell The_Shark isn't going to be fucking up
every thread that's posted here anymore.

For Future Trolls: If you're going to be a troll, at least
be a FUNNY one, please (see example- w M w). All these
trolls (save Ezkerraldean) were basically posting worthless
crap everywhere.

In most jurisdictions, each individual's utterances here
would belong to them and them alone, unless they had signed
over (or clicked Agree, though that is very questionable...)
said rights to the owner of the medium (in this case, the
medium is the message-board). Most copyright systems allow
for innate ownership.

Thats right...... some long term members have left and many
people are decrying the state the board is in.

I for one don't think it's much different, and I think
things will continue on as they have.

What this board needs is SAW III, a new AE double album (one
"Incunubula II" and one "fucked-up beats '07) and BOC to
split up and release solo LP's.

Dan was one of the most incisively witty posters here - part
of a long great tradition of British wits who are generally
poorly received by less intellectually endowed peoples.

Yes. But you were arguing that it was wrong for him to ban
these people. I said its his site, and that he has a right
to choose who can and cannot post on it. You were saying
that we as customers deserve the right not to be banned. I
was saying no.

Even if you do pay the $10, it doesn't entitle you to stink
the place up.

That said, a lot of those people who seemed to have been
banned weren't that bad.

Of course Phobia's well within his rights to ban any and
everyone on this board. Whether it will gain him any
popularity from the rest of the members is another matter.
A board's only as good as its members, and I think a lot of
thought needs to go into a perm ban. In my estimation
'annoyance' is not grounds for a ban of any sort. Trolling
is.

yes

and YES!

I was getting so sick of this place, but since no-one was
actually doing anything wrong I didn't feel that justified
in banning anyone. After a while I didn't see the point in
coming, just to get pissed off.
