I think Xltronic is dying guys, like a sick little
lamb with an infected leg wound.

There is such a thing as *too many* pointless threads.

this is such a classic. i really don't think that xlt is
dying - i guess phobs taking a break and therefore we have a
lot of dupe accounts.

but you are right, the likes of ezkerraldean, valor and
the_shark is not exactly a good cocktail at once.

The board has evolved beyond the dying IDM music scene: who
would want a sterile impersonal board where everyone was
polite to one another and there was no friction or
creativity. Comes with the territory.

God Bless XLT.

talking about dead idm scene is just nonsense. idm is
something special that music becomes - it takes time to be
labelled as that. many people get this wrong. there is no
idm scene, there is an experimental electronic music scene
which is far from dying!

That's correct. In my "Yo Phobs"-topic I was thinking about
posting screens of how XLT was some years ago, concerning
music related vs pointless topics. I'm kinda surprised how
Phob is just logged on frome time to time, handing out bans,
and fiddling on the servers and whatever, making the XLT-mb
X% faster, instead of taking care of other things that IMO
are more important. And that the mods over the last time
have quietly accepted how XLT have changed from a music
related messageboard to a hangout for bored people.

give me a fucking break. who gives a shit if it's living,
dying or dead. if you like it, listen to it, talk about it,
seek out varieties older and newer. if anything, the lack
of focus here could be attributed to the embarrassment of
riches given the ridiculous volumes of music choices
(electronic to varying degrees).

aside from the lack of focus, why is xlt such a drag these
days? xlt is a conglomeration of people. and the main
reason it's gone to shit is there there are precious few
people who have anything relevant or interesting to say.
many, many people who are genuinely involved in producing
and consuming electronic music simply do not come here, or
if they come, they don't stay.

there's a pervasive element of adolescent negativity here,
and very little reason to come or stay.

i did find out that bochum welt is releasing new music on
rephlex, and i found out at xlt in the last month or so. so
i'll stop in from time to time and take a look around, and
sometimes i'm tempted to add a post.

forgive me for giving in to temptation. i'm even more
tempted to just delete this post, but since i've wasted my
time on it, here it is.

if you're one of the sweet and lovable few, ignore this post
and dig a baby sloth instead.

Well, today I started a music related thread, bumped another
one with some more info, tried to turn a nonsense thread
into something useful and commented in a gear thread. If
more people did this we'd have more relevant topics around.

When it's a few people making nonsense threads and not
contributing "properly" to the board, you can ban them and
close the threads. When that is not only seen as normal
behaviour, but actually what the majority of posters do,
what can you do?

Feel free to email me Cuntychuck, I'll read it, but I can't
promise anything.

As CS2x says, at least part of the problem is that a lot of
people here no longer really seem to like "IDM" (and not
much good IDM has come out in absolutely ages and no, The
Tuss doesn't make up for the massive dry spell prior to
that). I myself don't really like IDM any more. I only come
here out of habit and because I can at least discuss minimal
techno and dubstep (which I do care about) with some people
here who also like those genres. I also quite enjoy some of
the off topic (but not pointless- I wish more people could
make this distinction) threads about politics, philosophy,
videogames, etc. If I cared enough, I'd probably just start
posting at dubstepforum and call it quits here.

and that is exactly why we need new moderators. you know
there is a flaw and you don't do a thing about it. fresh
blood, stop all this idm talk and start focussing on the
real deal.. the electronic music. there is so much good
stuff being released currently, am i the only one who likes
it? i dont think so.

XLTRONIC/WATMM IS THE ONLY FORUMS IN THE WORLD WHERE IDM IS
MENTIONED AS A GENRE.

i really cant believe we are discussing the term IDM over
the crazy amount of useless topics there is.

you've lost your interest, and thats fair - but that doesnt
mean the rest of us have. but i don't know, if phob's not
willing to do anything about it - then this mb is going to
die eventually.

Hi, Im The_Shark, also known as XLTs dog_belch. I was once
gay_dad, but that was officially pardoned by Phobiazero
about ten years ago. I think I had some other names once
like

I_cant_log_in and dupe_account

I get bored very easy with my work and I like to write rude
things about people because it makes me laugh. But it gets
harder to laugh and I seek to be ruder and more destructive
to get my kicks. I know it's pointless but sometimes,
oftentimes, I can't help it. It's just too easy, I suppose.

Phobiazero, can you do that special thing where you ban an
IP range, I'd ban all of Chile just to be safe because I
don't think you get many people from this neck of the woods
visiting. A simple ban won't do, and as it's getting to be
winter here it'll be all the more tempting to stay in and
write "cunt" on your board during the long dark evenings.

I don't like the music anymore, anyone I like from here I
speak to away from here, there are a couple of nice souls
here mind, and I wish them well.

I will now just be increasinly rude to force your hand,
unless like wMw says, in a brief moment of clarity, you only
let me stay in order to taunt me. Damn you. Of all the
people I that annoy me the most, self righteous cuntychuck
really gets on my tits.

Most of the other moderators "of my era" have by and large
stopped coming here, mostly for the same reason. I also
won't name names, but a lot (not all) of the people who used
to post good stuff have either dramatically decreased the
frequency with which they come here or stopped coming
altogether. Yes, there have been a few newer members who
have replaced them, but it is far fewer. Sadly, a lot of the
unfunny pseudo-trolls have stuck around for the duration, as
well as having had their ranks swelled by new blood.

I honestly don't think new moderators would make much of a
difference. It's the attitude of posters and the contents of
popular threads here that's the problem. When people make a
thread about some electronic music related thing, it usually
gets about 10 replies (two thirds of which are unfunny
wankers trying to derail it or just saying "it's shit") and
then it sinks without a trace. Then someone makes one titled
HA HA WANKCHEESE, with I KNOW WHAT A as the only body of
text in it and it reaches 50-100 posts, more often than not
with about 15 different posters in the thread.

Other than the recent The Tuss thread I can't think of a
"proper" thread that has gotten to over 100 posts of late.

The main problem as far as I can tell is that there are way
too many people here who obviously have anger issues and
problems with communicating with people in general. Someone
will post a thread about a band or song, and someone will
then no doubt post in the thread with some attack at that
person because the song is too poppy, or whatever. And then
lots of variations on that, which the main theme of some
personal attack against the poster remaining the same. I
guess those assholes enjoy acting like idiots to people for
no reason, but I think lots of people just get tired of that
shit and quit posting because of it.

I know lots of people don't like me here, and whatever to
that, but that's part of the reason I've stopped posting
here as much as I used to. It gets kind of tiring when you
post something about a band you like and just get all kinds
of shit for it. Not that I really lose much sleep over it,
but when it comes down to taking that shit day in and day
out or not coming here at all, well the second option is
better. I'm sure most people are happy I'm not here, but I
bet it's the same for a lot of other posters who were pretty
popular.

It's just beyond me I guess. Why someone needs to be called
a cunt or attacked for posting about a band, I just don't
understand. I wish the mods would ban some of those idiots!

what i think, is that most of this is caused by no action
whatsoever against pointless threads - this has evolved into
this shit. people do exactly what they feel like without any
consequences, that can be both positive and negative. i
think this board is currently favoring the negative.

i hope to see a change here, a change for the positive and
the good vibes.

and dog_belch, i regret if any of my posts have been leading
you into suffering, that certainly wasn't my point.
