i did a gmail backup over pop3 a few months ago. i actually
forward a copy of all my mail automatically to a second
gmail account, just in case of disaster.

I, literally, just set gmail to import all my mail from my
websites. It's taking a while but it'll be worth it. Won't
need any damn mail program on my computer. Yay! Can't wait
to have it full sorted.
