jackeroffer has some valid points; they should stick to
having the music for CBBC.

Their whole disgust seems to be based on the fact that Daft
Punk sampled others work. Then they cite Crystal Method as
purveyors of quality dance. Considering that Crysyal Method
have sampled too it's not really that valid a point.

I think they just hate their music and they're using this as
validation to themselves.

coming back to some thread about a band/artist you hate, and
post multiple posts about how disgusted you are about this
or that band/artist does not earn you more respect on this
board.

Do you like IDM jackeroffer?

"There's nothing wrong with sampling if it's used to make
the track unique."

> i agree with that.
but i don't feel that these Daft Punk tracks are "unique"
compared to the originals.

It used to be all done with mute groups with a little 909
thrown over top

And it was arguably better that way, before everyone was
using DAWs and each overbearingly clever little flourish and
twiddle could be planned and arranged in excruciating
detail, effectively killing the music like a butterfly
pinned to an index card.

But didn't he actually say that that wasn't it? Quite
explicitly.

i guess im just a little more than surprised of the Daft
punk love.
i would be equally as shocked if a bunch of people here said
the Shaman was their favorite electronic outfit.

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2007-02-26 10:11 [#02055411]
Points: 1038 Status: Lurker

yes i did, i think they are extremely poor musical act, and
this outrigtht sampling just increases the velocity of the
pouring feces.

i just think Mr oizo destroys daft punk, and everybody who
loves daft should listen to mr oizo instead. <-- true story

i like oizo too, have for years. love him actually, analog
worms is one of the stoniest albums ever.

daft punk, however, is the best dance music on the planet.

You don't understand the music. Its like someone hating
autechre or aphex twin because it sounds like noise. You
don't hear the intelligence behind it, you just hear the
house music.

Mr Oizo is pretty good, but no daft punk. His last album
sucked as well.

It's a bit arrogant to tell someone they don't understand a
certain group because they're not a fan of that group. It's
not as if jackeroffer is a burbling illiterate .

offline DirtyPriest from Copenhagen (Denmark) on 2007-02-26 12:51 [#02055454]

I don't really care that they borrowed so much from those
songs, it still brings me to the dancefloor.

I don't understand what mr. oizo has to do with anything,
apart from being french as well. Very different, IMO.

jackeroffer seems to be the only one that has an actual
LOATHING of daft punk, he still hasn't given any more reason
than they sample music (which i guess may be enough for
him).

And they use and autotuner.

oh oh sorry, yeah no other artists do that either, yeah he
has a totally valid point

No, but for him using an autotuner is up there with child
rape.

I said that most of his points seem to stem from the fact
that he doesn't think of it as more than crappy dance music,
which it is not.

He's the one who seems bent on talking shit about the people
that like daft punk. Whatever.

Every thing that someone notes positive about daft punk he
shoots back with BUT THEY USE AUTOTUNERS AND SAMPLES! THEIR
SHIT!, you wont convince me or probably anyone that their
shit my friend. Daft Punk you either love or hate, you
choose to hate cuz you a playa hater.

(im retarted for posting that)

seriously, every time i see this thread i wanna throw
discovery on and just bliss out for an hour or so.

also, for those who doubt daft punk's latest album, check
out their live sets theyve been playing; sure, the album
versions of the songs are a bit lazy, but just see what they
can do with them live! astounding.

prime example (robot rock, technologic and oh yeah)

i'm listening only to homework, don't dig their other music
and don't care if it is done from old samples. homework
seems to be done in a different way.
