Military humour.. sorry.

Tattoo's are allowed (to an extent), but yes, you can be
reprimanded, written up, prosecuted, demoted, or removed
from the military for their content. They've actually
recently lowered their "no tattoo" policy, in an effort to
increase recruitment, so you can now tattoo yourself, even
on the exposed parts of your body while wearing a uniform.

seriously. i've stopped giving a fuck what other people do.
even the ones i care about. they don't listen. if they
wanna be stupid and and do something that could get them
killed go for it. that just means more for me. it's enough
work making sure i survive everyday. one less person to
compete with only makes it easier for me to get what i want
outta life.

Well, my father was a USAF officer for about 21 years, hence
my living in 5 different locations.

And no, he didn't go out bombing shit or anything. He was a
navigator earlier in his career, and then moved on to
bureaucratic and supply chain type affairs as he moved up
the chain of command.

Anyway, I reckon as long as you behave yourself, you should
be able to dodge an Article 15 or a discharge.

You're a fucking fantasy fucking idiot!!!

Get your head out of your ass!

i just got out of the AF!!! a year ago...

read my posts on the "tantrayana monk" thread.

this is probably the worst decision ne could
make...especially right now.

Save yourself! The USAF won't. My sugestion: move to the
city, move to the islands, just move!

We're all under bondage of our environment, no matter how
"good" ppl may believe to have it. You will make top $$$
just traveling and working! Your experiences will be
phenominal! Tell your recurter to suck your dick! And that
your life is in your hands! Don't let him brainwash you.

1 sugestion; move to Maui, Hawaii.
2 sugestion; join a monestary,
3 sugestion; travel (especially to INDIA!!!)

e-mail me for a serious discussion...i got many friends
who'll tell you the TRUTH about the USAF, who all just got
out. Some dug it, some hate it. (Myself, i was stationed in
japan, and know i could have done Tokyo better on my own,
WITHOUT THE USAF). Do anything ELSE but join the millitary.

oh yeah, when i say this bid, it was at 108...very auspicios
for a monk to see your thread at 108 posts, and it being
about his past life in the military.

You tell your recurter to stop banging thos 16 yrs olds (i'm
from seattle, and when i finished tech school, i came home
for recuriter assistance program, and found ot that they
were banging the underagers, *and were married*)

Okay. I recently broke up with a girl that was a so called
"military brat" (both parents were in the AF, though not
pilots) and I can tell you that it is no "easy" ride. First
of all, be prepared to never live in an area for longer then
three years tops. My ex girlfriend grew up in upstate New
York, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Minnesota whilst her
parents also made frequent six month trips to other parts of
the globe. Also, living on an army base is not great. The
entire family needs to participate in all sorts of drills
and you'll be on call. You'll probably be used as a helping
hand during natural disasters and emergency situations,
which means your schedule will likely never be stable. The
pay is not great. If you plan on raising a family you'll
definitely need a mate that can provide more then you'll be
providing. On the plus side, you get great medical
insurance and a decent pension (after 20+ years of service).
On the downside, you'll be a total patsy for 20+ years.

How do I travel anywhere (or enroll into college here) if I
have no money right now?

offline swift_jams from big sky on 2007-02-16 14:30 [#02051119]

Just saying, right now I am in need of financial
help. This may be a good thing, may not be. Either way it
will be a learning experience, correct?

What about working on a cruise liner??? That's a pretty
brilliant idea if i have to say so myself.

Hard work probably, but you get to travel, and have no
expenses for food or housing.

cruise liners are giant disease vectors though aren't they?
when i think about them i just picture old folks with no
immune systems going on their next to last vacation and
piles of wierd viri gestating in the warm dank laundry room.

it may be a learning experience, but there are better ways
to learn; you don't need to reinvent the wheel.

I do however need to get a job to pay my parents back
for that California incident, to go back to college to get a
"REAL JOB", and learn some self-discipline and respect for
others. It just occured that the Air Force (just 2 years of
it) might be a solution to those three problems.

Take up martial arts, thats a good way to get self
respect/esteem and discipline.

I did Tae Kwon do as a child! :D It was very fun. That's
what I need to go back too, my life as a child when I was
more consiously aware of important things and had my head on
right. :]

Bah. You know what self-discipline is and you know what
respect for others entails; you don't need to learn it, you
just need to start doing it; there's nothing more to learn,
and it is constantly within your reach.

The money is a different matter, but you'll have to consider
what you'll want to be a part of, if you want to support the
(rather offensive/aggressive) army.

You do have good advice, or at least are better in
expressing what I am trying to say than I am.

The Air Force part though, is not the Army. I won't be
getting shot at, and I'll be on a base doing mostly errands
the entire two years. But I can see what you mean about it
still supports, even though it's higher up in the chain.

I'm still entitled to make my own choices, but listening to
others might be better. I'm taking every word everyone here
has said into consideration.

If I'm getting you right, you're saying you want to change
who you are, take some responsibility and do more of what
you think is right. This is generally a good thing, it shows
maturity, but people often make mistakes in just wanting
a change, any change and then they make rash
decisions. Take your time to think about it. Think about
what the army is: Will you be ok, morally, with supporting
it? Try also to think about what kind of person the army
will make you into (because it will affect you, you
will be ordered to perform actions that you can't escape the
responsibility for even if they're orders. But remember also
that nothing(ness) determines you).

Air Force = Armed Force = Army (It's the whole concept I'm
talking about not some silly boys fight over which division
is better).

And if your main concern in this situation is your own
safety, then you definitely shouldn't join because
that shows you really haven't thought it through on the
level of maturity you're trying to reach.

About listening to advice: see the Nietzsche quote I posted
earlier.

look! if America invades IRAN, you die. you fly out, you get
killed.

talk to someone who was IN the AF. not so bad...BUT it's
going to get worse.

you have no money?! SOOOOO WHAT!

the cruise liner...btw...excellent idea, i sugest talking to
ppl on the hawaiin cruise liners...research it! Some liners
treat you like it's the navy, they give you a normal
job/then give you an emergency job, however, you won't be
shipped off to the middle of nowhere.

I was in the same situation...i wanted to be a computer
jocky, and make big $$$. heh, wanted to make some $$$. but
look around you! there's more options!

leave him be. he obviously decided on the armed forces cuz
he doesn't wanna try doing anything else for him self he
wants the easy road. although there is always a price to
pay later on. he doesn't wanna try and get a job. if he
can't fuckin do that in the civilian world, do you think
he'll make it in the military? does he think it'll help to
have someone thinking for him and yelling at him constantly
to do it? if that's what he needs then he's been lost
already.

Here's another sugestion:

join the union...electricion, engineer, carpenteer...they
pay for school, start out at a NICE wage, and when you
become a journeyman you're set for life!

much better than throwing away your potential...

I did the carpenter union while on maui...LOVED IT!
Outdoors, nice views, excellent pay! And best of all the
co-workers were great... in the AF you get to many
runaways...

going to hell and back is easy...the road is wide...the road
to heaven is narrow...and needs wisdom and merit.

Which do *you* have?
