Idea for a future mix off/vibes?

10 X 8 minute mixes at a 100bpm

10 X 8 minute mixes at a 130bpm

10 X 8 minute mixes at a 150bpm

--

i.e. mash your chosen 130bpm tracks into a 8 minute mix. The
10 resulting 130bpm mixes are then mixed together into an 80
minute mix.

Each mix could have a theme i.e. acid, breaks, electro,
bleeps ;) etc.

Our resident artists could even do CD covers ;)

Sounds interesting, although I would personally favour
100bpm, 120bpm. and 140bpm.

yes, i was thinking the same, a time limit for each person.
But maybe some more time for mixing in/out the different
sets.

@ thodob - The main aim would be to get 10 mixes within 80
minutes so it will fit on a CD. So rough 8 minutes per mix
+/- 30 seconds should be aimed for.

@ marlowe - any bpm would do - whatever the mojority agreed
on for the particular theme.

I think what would be cool is if we ended up with a
selection of 'xltronic mix off' CDs available to download
with cover art!

i like this idea a lot though i would like a 160 bpm one.

id also like to see this mix idea but with members doing
8min mixes of their own tracks.

understood that, but it should be up to the dj to fit it
into 80min.

In that case i prefer 127.5 and 172bpm! :)

I think once a theme has been chosen then a bpm can be
agreed.

i.e. electro theme: 120bpm?

dusted.

I'm actually missing number 5! I saw the big Electro box set
at the vinyl exchange in Manchester for a silly price.

If we did an electro theme it could be almost anything as
long as the tempo and groove fit.
I would imagine it would be something between kraftwerk &
drexcyia???

It wouldn't matter if your 8 minute mix only had 2 tracks or
8 tracks! Just do your best/fav mix of tunes that fit the
theme.

Thats cool... I like the idea of mashing loads of tracks in
a small space of time but if I had to stick strictly to
electro mine wouldnt be very exciting is all. although i had
a look and ive got more electro than I thought

also, isn't there enough electro focus on this site these
days? something different would be cool!

there could be a 170bpm one, just think of a theme where the
mojority of tracks are around 170bpm.

I only picked electro because it's a personal favorite genre
and I love mixing that kind of shit.

Anyway no theme has been started properly yet and if we
don't get enough electro mixes in the pot we'll scrap it,
but saying that,. there isn't a deadline yet either.

It's a good idea Indeksical. We could do those without
themes just set the bpms.
