made me feel as aphex did

with the music I mean

autechre are amazing also... so are the beatles of course
and so many bands.... and yea millions of artits have
excellent pieces of art.... but hey, thats why I came
here... cos I love polygon window, caustic window, afx,
aphex... and all that

the early years are my fav right now... but who cares... the
thing is I am not sure if he really invented anything as I
used to think... but thats not even important at this point
for me... he just gets the best score, cos at the end its
all about enjoying.... and his music is the best for my
ears, for my brain and for my heart

yes

I know this sounds stupid nowadays... and this also feels
fine

Autechre and Aphex have equal talents i reckon. they have
different ideas, that's all!

Autechre for me. I really like everything RDJ has done, but
the only release of his thats one par with ae for me is
drukQs.

No! Dicky's on his own, he sets the pace. Ae are like.. ohh
Electro fucked up, ooh bit of Ambient.. you can easily trace
the sources.

But if you take ae as a whole and listen to their music
evolve so heavily over time, it's really something special.

Nacmat: I wish I had gotten into SAW1 while it was still new
and fresh. There are a few tracks that I really dig there
but on the whole I got into it a bit late and it does sound
dated. His "Classics" and "Analogue Bubblebath" series are
dated in much the same way, although when I put them in
context with other music coming out at the same time he was
definatly ahead in the game.

I wouldn't say that either CLASSICS or ANALOGUE BUBBLEBATH
were dated at all.

But this is the thing, Ae's music painfully evolves over 20
albums or pretend EPs, Dicky.. he helps invent 10 or 20
genres all at once, goes all over the place muscially, does
all sorts. Ae stick to their painful career, occassionally
doing something "enjoyable" as Gescom..., and there's two of
them. Fuck off lads.

ah. i know exactly what nacmat is on about.
i've been listening to a lot of autechre recently, and i've
been really enjoying it (especially ep7, amazing).
even though ae and afx are doing two completely different
things most of the time, its got nothing to do with that.
they're both making really great music, and for me, afx's is
really that much more enjoyable.

While I have consistenly chosen Autechre as my favorite for
a long time, the truth is that both were immensely
influential on my young, impressionable brain. Tri Repetae
and RDJ Album were some of my first 'IDM' purchases and both
screwed me up severely, in a good way. It was some of the
most evocative, immersive, and bafflingly original music I'd
ever heard.. and that made me contemplate the other
universes which must exist.. the terrifying worlds which
these alien sound slices were giving me a hazy glimpse into.

While the years have inevitably changed my starry-eyed view
of these records, Autechre and Aphex Twin will always be
paired in my mind.. and the magic of that music, on some
level, will never wear off.
