Ceephax - Volume One CD [REPH185CD] $13.75
(RELEASE DATE: 01-23-07)
Label: Rephlex

This is the 2nd full-length release from UK's Ceephax: also
known as Andy Jenkinson, younger brother to Squarepusher.
Volume One encompasses an old school acid sensibility
crossed with the energy and innovation of the famous
"Universal Indicator" acid series, plus a melodic and moody
experimental side that is revealed in his mellower moments.
With a nod towards yesterday's heroes from Detroit, Chicago,
Holland and Germany, Ceephax pushes the acid sound to the
limit, from one end of the sonic spectrum to the other.
Pummeling technoid pounders, spazzed-out breakbeats and
other assorted genre-defying experiments allow Jenkinson to
smash the wonders of acid into those fortunate enough to
witness.

can you say 'acid white labels' :) Thats just my
specualtion but it'll be great if those tracks cylob played
a few years ago now turn out to be on these two releases :)
and have them on a proper release no less!

but not 1 sample? im still really looking forward to this. i
still enjoy ceephax but his old releases are getting harder
and harder to listen to, and if this album doesnt pull it
off i may just forget about him for a while.

what are these tracks cylob played btw ?

ear-rational never has samples, i haven't looked around yet,
but i'm sure they'll be out soon, its less than a month away
unless there are pressing problems.

i'm looking forward to a new ceephax long play as well.
some of his ep work is hit or miss, but his first album if
you pick it up after awhile is quite refreshing.

oh the acid white labels. Back when analord was announced,
cylob had posted this live set he did @ some radiostation
somewhere check cylob.com or his other drutful site or
whatever its called. Anyway, he listed all tracks played,
except for these two which he titled 'acid white labels'.
they're very cool, and if you can still download the set i
reccomend you do it at once to check them out.

a lot of fanboy speculation started flying, and everyone was
thinking that these two tracks would be analord 10...then 1,
2, 3, etc. till all of them were out, and the people with
'good sources' had egg on their faces.

actually, on the planet mu message board, soundmurderer and
mike p stated these tracks were not 'analords' one of which
might have been rdj's handy work but one was not...so, it
may just be fanboy speculation on my part, but i'm hopeful
these tracks will be released as they are ace.

i'm looking forward to some new aphex material too, esp the
stuff he' played out live.

i got ceerial port awhile ago on oink. it was alright but i
got tired of it. i was looking forward to acid whorl, and
while the full song sounds the same and everything, it just
didnt it for me : (
i remember track 6 being one of the better tracks.

then theres the planet-mu ep. i dont know what thats gonna
be like but im looking forward to hearing the last track in
full!

Yeah. I've heard the samples to the planet-mu ep.
Not too keen on it, but again, looking forward to the last
track if anything.
