He annoyed me. I always wanted to hear the great musicians
without him grunting over it shouting "god damn" and "sex
machine". I don't like the fact he is much more famous than
them, yet they have all the talent.

There would also be a lot more funky breaks to sample if he
had shut up a bit more.

Yes, but the REAL issue here that is at stake, is whether or
not the 'James Brown' single will be re-released or not. As
a contemporary fashion-victim with real taste, I'd say "Yes,
it should be re-released!". That'd be so narly!

most likely listen to. Whether or not you realize it, I can
guarantee you listen to or hear at least one song with a
sample of his in it every day.

Respect & RIP

RIP James Brown:
He was legendary showman and one of the musical greats of
our time.

In September 1988, high on PCP and carrying a loaded
shotgun, James Brown entered an insurance seminar next to
his Augusta office and asked seminar participants if they
were using his private restroom.

I wish I were there, I could have met him.

Irreguardless of how you feel about him personally, think of
the effect he has had on music. I would think you out of
anyone else here should respect that, seeing as you are so
heavily influence by the hiphop culture. Its all james brown
and jackson five.

yes. james brown is a great drummer.

i respect james the most because he was a terrible man and
someone i enjoyed made a better track by using 4 seconds of
his drummer's drumbeat. because of this fact i now respect
james brown because he used this session musician and paid
him peanuts and no song royalties for his contribution.

and i respect him even more because he is dead now and this
changes everything.

If you think its only the funky drummer thats been sampled
your sadly mistaken. Do a little research instead of jumping
on every fucking post.

The fact that james brown wrote and arranged it all. That
has nothing to do with anything does it?

I bet you decided you hated beck after you found out he was
a scientoligist too.

you make such multitude of deeply incorrect assumptions that
it's actually impossible to converse with you.

"if you think its only the funky drummer thats been sampled

your sadly mistaken"

-did i say this anywhere?

"Do a little research instead of jumping
on every fucking post"

-what other posts? i hardly post here.

"The fact that james brown wrote and arranged it all"

-he wrote fuck all. and arranged a funk song, are you
joking?

"I bet you decided you hated beck after you found out he was

a scientoligist too"

-what on earth has this to do with anything?

Nothing. Don't listen to me, I just quit smoking so I am
getting pissed off at nothing.

However, I do notice that every post you do seems a bit
negative.

I have gone six days without. Its fucking tough, especially
at my job that puts me in situations were I practically need
cigarettes all the time. When I have days off its easier.
The patch helps. Been having wierd dreams.

Every day it gets a bit easier to say no to cigarettes.
Funny thing, for the first time in years I can actually
smell what smokers smell like to non smokers, and I am
beginning to understand why they bitch about it so much.

That said, I would really like to get ahold of a pack of
nicotine free cigarettes for those days when it gets too
much. It would be a bad idea in the end, so I won't.

I have been on and off quiting for 20 days though. This six
day stretch is the longest I have ever done before. Hoping
it sticks.

What time does it take before your body has lost its
nicotine-addiction (ignoring the psychological factor).
Wasn't it 2 weeks? That would mean you're halfway.

Good luck!

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2006-12-27 04:36 [#02021593]

Well, I am using the patch, so its still a long way to go. I
am going to be using the patch for at least two months. But
I am getting there, and it doesn't seem as much impossible
as it did when I started. I just have to keep my mind on all
the gear I could be buying as a non-smoker.
