vibes suggestion?

we should settle down on the vibes for a bit.
instead of making an official vibes every time someone has
an idea, there should only be a set small number of vibes a
year.
and like, when its that time of year again, we go through
the most popular suggestions and go for it.
the latest vibes is 21, and at the moment theres already 3-4
going at the same time. if we were to do things differently,
people may be more interested in taking part and there
wouldn't be more than one at a time.
just a suggestion is all.

(oh, and as for an actual vibes suggestion, I'd like to see
a vibes where people have to use software set to a foreign
language.)

On the subject of Vibes 16, whilst it's available to DL, it
still isn't on the front page. I don't know why.

It has been a while since the home page was refreshed
indeed, but your vibes is not the only one that is currently
missing there, I believe. Maybe it will get sorted with the
new version of Xltronic..

That would be fun... However, what do you define punk as?

offline unabomber from Palma de Mallorca (Spain) on 2007-01-15 05:58 [#02032614]

Ramones, Sex Pistols...

Also could be digital punk... ATR...

Dunno, just an idea. But it should be easy...

Ok, i see. That is the most commonly accepted definition. I
am not going to flex out on that one because i don't have
time. It wold still be fun to do that though.

The question here is to avoid the use of the term those
emo-punk-wannabeskaters gave the word...

i'd like to see a Vibes with some normal electronic music.
try to avoid all the special niches a bit and actually try
to produce something. i won't accept any new Vibes until the
current ones are finished.

I bet you tridenti will now pop up with a

"vibes should just be electronic music" topic.

That would be fun to do. Love the UI series, attempting
several lame attempts at emulating them too!

Has that not been covered already? Or was it just a
suggestion i read somewhere? Problem with doing jazz is:

A) Jazz is generally a group thing, best suited to an
ensemble rather than

B) A bedroom musician sequencing jazz-like things into their
computer.

I know I have no access to a jazz band, otherwise I'd jump
at the chance. I love da jazz.

lose the gay themes. Why not everyone just submit their
latest track?

Themes are lame

sounds, wind sounds, ocean sounds, etc.

alright fellas i just figured it out. this is killer. it
goes completely against idm convention, but its something
that could provide a hell of a laugh.

we should try a vocal vibes, where the only condition is
that you have to sing in your piece. i could see it rapidly
descending into a karaoke vibes, but that could have charm
as well ....

offline pigster from melbs on 2007-01-24 08:48 [#02037333]
Points: 4480 Status: Lurker

wasn't there some competition gonna have to cover a song
with your vocals (like that rae remix)?? what happened to
that.

heh yeah. when i was thinking about this vibes thing, i was
originally thinking about suggesting just a normal
compilation where people send in good songs and then other
people listen and its all pleasant for a few good moments.
but then i realised its just a vibes without a theme. and
that there are too many vibes and not enough interest. heh.
xlt.
