Due to my behavior, I'm being kicked out of my parents
place to go live with my bum Uncle in Mississippi for a few
months. It was either this, or join the military. I
obviously chose the lesser of two evils. Um...I leave a few
days just before New Years, so I may still have SOME (not
much) time to pop in on here until then. But, after I leave
I won't have any internet or phone access for the entire
stay with my Uncle. It could be one month, it could be 3.
Hopefully not more.

It's kind of like a (forced) vacation. My parents needed a
break from me and I needed a break from them.

Either way, I won't be doing ANY music, or ANY art, or ANY
photos, and certainly no XLTRONIC this whole time. I just
want to say I'll miss you. But I'll be back when I can.

Basically. Minus the alcohol and stealing part. More of not
obeying parents and not showing respect. It's the way I was
raised and I'm just not the kind of person who WANTS to be
raised that way. Unfortunatly, it conflicts, and now I'm in
this shit. So...no big deal I guess, it's just going to be
hard for me to live without any human contact other than my
Uncle for a few months. :[ Oh, and LOTS of black people and
white gangster wanna-be's.

Mississippi is sweltering hot summers, dry (but not
freezing) winters. Many cotton fields, lots of flat, flooded
land, and basically all of Mississippi is a place where
criminials and people who just dont care go to live. I was
born there, and lived the first 8 years of my life, but,
it's not the same as going back now that I understand
certain things about life. Basically, it's real shitty, and
that's what I'll be stuck with. And lots of racism, and lots
of people

I'm not asking about his upbringing, I'm asking what he
meant by the sentence.. raised into being someone who
doesn't want to be what he was raised into being? Not that
he is what he's been raised into being, but he may (wrongly)
believe so.

find an old blues bar and learn to play slide guitar...

soul music and blues came from the river. go find it and
bring it back when you get out. just don't let the
community crush you.

I don't understand why you won't be doing anything in
Mississippi, is bum uncle tying you to the bed for the
duration of your stay? How have you upset your parents, is
it because you keep taking photos of yourself, are they
suspicious you want to be a male model and not pursue a
military career?

offline swift_jams from big sky on 2006-12-11 09:53 [#02015883]

The way I was raised was what most people consider to be a
"prude" lifestyle. Obey parents, never steal, dont drink,
dont smoke, get all A's in school, goody-two-shoes that kind
of thing, right? Well, I'm just not that way. Unfortunatly.
I like to have fun and do things most kids my age are doing,
however, my parents don't like that. I'm still stuck at the
"do what your parents say" part though, so they want to send
me to Mississippi to stay with my uncle until one of my
friends can sort out some room for me to stay with them.
Which like I said may be 2 or 3 months, because they have
school and work right now.

I'm not in school because I'm taking time off to save money.
that didn't work out because i just got fired because of a
computer error where the manager thinks I stole moeny from
the register, which I would NEVER FUCKING DO! I'm bad, but
not that bad. Besides there's video cameras EVERYWHERE up
front.

For fun in MS, I may try to meet people, try to find some of
the local black folk who are into making music. I don't know
if it will work or not. I mean, there's lots of lazy poor
broke blacks and some (very few) whites there. i'm
notracist, but it's jsut a different environment than what
I'm used to. I also may try to get some fishing done. Haha,
as lame as it sounds....and I'll work on cars with my Uncle.
That's about it. He doesn't have cable, doesn't have
internet, and won't let me call back home here long
distance. So i better make some friends there. And I won't
have a car...:[ Maybe I can find a cute girl to keep me
busy. It will kind of be like starting fresh there anyways.
THey'll be enfautated with me (a city boy) I hope and maybe
I can get laid. Hahaha. ;)

No digital cam corder trentee, only an SLR and Polaroid. May
do a HUGE collection of photos.

Like....my mom and dad are sick of me leaving the house
without saying "Oh, hey I'm going out with my friends to go
bowling" or something. I just usualy stand up and walk out
the door. They are sick of me having people over without
asking. They are sick of seeing me spend all MY HARD EARNED
MONEY (MY MONEY!!!) on what I want. I AM 18 for god sakes.
They just are...being parents I guess. I can live with it,
it's just not what most kids my age have to deal with. And
yeah after I get back from this "vacation" I'll be moving in
with a friend or to my own place.

It will be a shame to see you go. Please be positive about
this whole thing. I will probably be a life changing
experience for you. If I was you I would try to find a job
there which has the possability of promotion (and other
offices in places you actually want to live), be a file
clerk or something similar.

If you need to meet women quickley take up capoeira, find a
comunity centre or some place that runs classes (guaranteed
introductions to hot women!!!)

You may actually thank your parents for this one day.

i think I have to agree on this one. You sound like my
friend brennan. he did the same kind of thing; just did what
he wanted whenever he wanted regardless of the people he was
staying with (his parents) free of charge. he was a great
guy, i had nothing against him, but i always thought it was
pretty stupid and immature of him to do this kind of stuff
for absolutely no reason other than he wanted to. he also
got sent to his uncle's house out in the country, but he was
some former drill instructor for the army or something, so i
think he probably had a worse time than you will.

you have the right to be a "free spirit" or whatever when
you're living your own life and taking the responsibility
that comes with it, but i say that as long as you're living
at home with your parents, they are right in this situation
(not about the money part though, that is pretty stupid).
your parents probably want you to tell them where you're
going and stuff because they care about you. is it that hard
to say, "i'm going bowling with friends"? i urge you to
think more about the situation and the other people involved
before you immediately fault your parents for this.

anyway, sorry for the lecture, god knows i'm not one who
should be talking. try to have a good time in the deep
south, and stay out of too much trouble. good luck!

It's going to require a LOT of more self-control on my part.
