is it me or does this particular album seem heavily influenced by aphex?! the track "foil" sounds like something off of saw2 along with a few other songs. amber seems to be more drum and bass like then thier other material, it also seems to be influenced by ICBYD. anyone else agree?
oh yeah, on a different subject garbagemx36 is 14 mins of pure bliss...
that is all.

Wasn't amber released before SAWII?
SAWII = 95 Amber = 94
I am not sure... I know incunabla is 92, but I don't have the cases fro SAWII and Amber here, and am not too sure about their release dates.

I agree with Woofer, I've never thought those albums or tracks were influenced by each other. Perhaps I'm not listening close enough. In any case I'll keep my ears open!

I love how it turns from evil to beatiful half way through. Alot of Ae's songs do this

very true...I kinda didn't rate early AE as there was a lot of very similar stuff coming out at the same time...and they didn't stand out at all...it was a fuitful time for this kind of music but a lot of people were all influenced by the same things at the same time, so a lot of those albums sound somewhat similar...
it's really the aftermath of Raves/Acid in the UK...95-96-97 were strange years, thing were on a sort of comedown after the initial rush of the late 80s/early90s...and when people stopped feeling the need to constantly address the dancefloor with every track that things became interesting again...
later stuff where they really get that AE sound we know & love...

I do hear some sort of proto-DnB in the ANTI EP tho...the non-repetative beat one, Flutter...good use of a cutup break..
A lot of the UK rave scene was based around spedup breaks and that fed into the creation of Jungle/DnB as producers got cleverer with their breaks...and often when influences are similar, then dividing lines between these sub-genres do become somewhat blurry...

incunabula '93 saw ii '94 amber '94 icbyd '95
I don't really see the resemblance. I'm actually listening to it now and find it rather cold and mechanical. Incunabula is definitely a warmer record. (These are the only 2 Ae albums I have)
