i think they should have granted his wish to be shot instead
of being hanged. just to show that tiny little bit of
respect left, if you catch my drift

thats what i was wondering...

as for Saddam, i don't believe in the death sentance, his
trial has been a farce from the begining

what about the people who ordered thousands of cluster bombs
to be dropped on Lebannon in the last day of the war?
Effectively mines, and still killing civilians long after
the war ended. When do they get sentenced? Is there even a
trial for that?! This world is fucked up beyond belief.

put him in a dirty, dark, small hole for the rest of his
life in stead with cc.: lice.
Death sentence is to easy.

Cynical timing with the US elections, this is yet one more
ghastly moment in history.

I don't see this giving the republicans a huge boost in any
polls... they're just fucked right now no matter what.

I don't beleive in the death penalty myself, but I would
rather see it handed to Bush than Saddam

I'd hope the only thing that could give Republicans a
massive boost would be collective madness on a nationwide
scale, but the timing of this is significant, I believe.
Desperation, maybe, who knows what madness broils in Bush
and his cronies' craven skulls?

I don't know how much they've said, but it seems to me
they're all (the politicians of either party) being very
ambiguous and more or less abstaining from commenting until
they've seen what the public thinks about such a death
sentence. If the public doesn't like it, they can say they
don't agree with the sentence but then it will still go down
'cause it isn't "their" court or "their" laws.. it can also
be seen as different from the "normal" death sentence in
america (two states or still have it? more? less?) since
it's such a "special case."

or something...

i don't believe in the death sentence at all, so i think
it's sad and barbaric. jesus, they got him already, now they
can just keep him locked up and he'll be just as much of a
threat as he would be dead. but an eye for an eye is what
helps a lot of people, i guess. to bad i don't agree. no
criminal deterrence will come from this...

offline Wolfslice from Bay Area, CA (United States) on 2006-11-05 05:43 [#01997886]

The sentance may not even hold up because many are claiming
the trial was unfair. Plus he's got a lot of stuff left to
be tried on as well.

How will this regain any of the trust the Bush
Administration and its closet pedophile posse have lost in
the last year? Nobody here really cares much about Saddam
right now, he's been removed from power and that's that...
we've got our own problems. If anything the verdict will
escalate the violence in Iraq and just piss people off more.

I didn't mean it'd necessarily justify death sentence, but
rather that he wouldn't in fact be as harmless dead as
alive...

About Saddam's death sentance giving Republicans a boost in
the polls, I have a conspiracy theory that seems highly
plausible. The U.S. government already has Bin Laden in
custody, or has killed him, and are waiting to bring him out
until either the day before this election or sometime near
the 2008 presidential elections.

I don't usually agree with the death penalty (mostly because
I feel life imprisonment is even more of a punishment), but
in this case I have to say it's a good thing. Someone who is
that evil should be destroyed as soon as possible.

alive....

Some people in this world = shite
And dont deserve to live.

And you think that he wont get treated better in Jail/prison
then you or I do, and Ive never killed anyone.

Didn't people think Bush had Bin Laden and would bring him
out right before the last election. There was even the story
that circulated on the net about a couple that stayed at a
military base and found out Bin Laden was housed there, but
the story had zero validity as to the existance of the
sources or any proof of any of the facts.

It is brilliant in way. The West has installed "Democracy"
in Iraq, and what's th first significant thing they do...
employ the death penalty. Why not democratically decide to
legally enforce farting as the official language?

my christian sister's reaction to this news was:

"great! it's about time!" - in a really disgusting smug
voice

my reaction:

*hangs head in sorrow* - in a humble moralistic way
