what about the people who ordered thousands of cluster bombs to be dropped on Lebannon in the last day of the war? Effectively mines, and still killing civilians long after the war ended. When do they get sentenced? Is there even a trial for that?! This world is fucked up beyond belief.

I'd hope the only thing that could give Republicans a massive boost would be collective madness on a nationwide scale, but the timing of this is significant, I believe. Desperation, maybe, who knows what madness broils in Bush and his cronies' craven skulls?

I don't know how much they've said, but it seems to me they're all (the politicians of either party) being very ambiguous and more or less abstaining from commenting until they've seen what the public thinks about such a death sentence. If the public doesn't like it, they can say they don't agree with the sentence but then it will still go down 'cause it isn't "their" court or "their" laws.. it can also be seen as different from the "normal" death sentence in america (two states or still have it? more? less?) since it's such a "special case."
or something...

i don't believe in the death sentence at all, so i think it's sad and barbaric. jesus, they got him already, now they can just keep him locked up and he'll be just as much of a threat as he would be dead. but an eye for an eye is what helps a lot of people, i guess. to bad i don't agree. no criminal deterrence will come from this...

The sentance may not even hold up because many are claiming the trial was unfair. Plus he's got a lot of stuff left to be tried on as well.
How will this regain any of the trust the Bush Administration and its closet pedophile posse have lost in the last year? Nobody here really cares much about Saddam right now, he's been removed from power and that's that... we've got our own problems. If anything the verdict will escalate the violence in Iraq and just piss people off more.

About Saddam's death sentance giving Republicans a boost in the polls, I have a conspiracy theory that seems highly plausible. The U.S. government already has Bin Laden in custody, or has killed him, and are waiting to bring him out until either the day before this election or sometime near the 2008 presidential elections.

I don't usually agree with the death penalty (mostly because I feel life imprisonment is even more of a punishment), but in this case I have to say it's a good thing. Someone who is that evil should be destroyed as soon as possible.

Didn't people think Bush had Bin Laden and would bring him out right before the last election. There was even the story that circulated on the net about a couple that stayed at a military base and found out Bin Laden was housed there, but the story had zero validity as to the existance of the sources or any proof of any of the facts.
