I'd buy more stuff, if every distributer didnt take thier "cut", which would in effect make cds/records/7"s cheaper, ala Dischord Records, which 7"s are $4.00, cds/lps are $10.00, all postage is paid. And you wonder why for an Indie lable they are doing so good.

I'm skint. I buy stuff when I can. Gone are the glory days of £100+ per week on vinyl. Not spending approximately £100 per quarter on music :(

I solemnly declare now, in an Open Post to Rephlex, that I will hand them over the sum of 15 British Pounds if they release a new Aphex Twin / AFX album.
The challenge has been laid down.

Does it matter if the Aphex Twin/AFX tracks are potentially 10+ years old, or do they have to be newly created.
Would you do the same for a release on MenRecords.

To think if I invested that money now, then when AFX did release a new album, the interest accrued would probably just about cover my bus fare into town.

I remember back in the days before the internet as we know it today, when I bought an LP/EP I really appreciated it and played it loads. I've lost that now with everything available for free.

i still do that. i always prefer to buy a hard copy (CD usually) and play it right through while admiring the pretty cover, looking out over the fields and cows and fog between the hills etc. when i am back home.
why does rephlex say purchase "a new original edition"? whats wrong with the old editions of everything?

very sad.
i still love to buy music.
Ezkerraldean: they dont want you to buy and old edition off from a second hand store or ebay. if you buy an orginal edition the label/artists actaully gets paid.....what a concept

my thing is, as im getting older, there just isnt as much great awesome music out there as there used to be, that and being daddy means i cant spend $50+/week on records/cds :)
I now buy a couple of cds a month, depending on whats out there and call it good, ive been buying music since i was about 10, tapes back in the day, and now at 32, THERE HAVE BEEN LOADS of shite i shoudlnt have bought :) but you live, you learn.

When I moved over to Chile I threw away about a skip full of CDs and Records, and I can't even remember what a fraction of them were. Awful old clutter. Thank goodness for invisible, tidy MP3s.

I downloaded about a gizzillion SNES ROMs, played some of them for five minutes each and then put them on disc and haven't touched them since. I agree - when things are more readily available they lose their worth: it's economics...
however, I've just bought a ukelele and that's something you can't download from SLSK or Azureus, and it's fab! I've discovered three chords already!!

exactly, thats why a lot of times to me: cd-rs feel/look so useless and shitty, even though there might be some really good songs/videos on them
