Did you watch the monologue version or the directors one?

Or are you talking about something other than the movie?

Yea the original version has a monologue throughout, I
prefer it. I am sure you can track it down.

The 1982 American and European theatrical versions released
by the studio included a "happy ending" (using stock footage
from Stanley Kubrick's The Shining) and a voice-over added
at the request of studio executives during post-production
after test audience members indicated difficulty
understanding the film.

Although several different versions of the script had
included a voice-over of some sort, both Ridley Scott and
Harrison Ford disliked the studio V.O. and resisted having
it added to the film.

It's been rumored Ford intentionally did the voice-over
poorly in the hope it wouldn't be used, but recent
interviews indicate otherwise.

There's nothing wrong with the voice over, but the ending in
the original is rubbish. That is all.

One of my fave films ever...nothing else really like it. It
would be hard to film Neuromancer because it would have to
stand up to this.

I've actually just bought the re-released director's cut.

I'm sure the SE will be replete with all manner of bonus
features and maybe a few new scenes, but my experience with
DVDs is that I never get round to looking at any of the
bonus stuff, so there's not really much point in spending an
extra £5-£10 for stuff I'll never watch.

Essential.

don't hold your breath for the s.e. It's been "coming soon"
for the last 10 years or so. There are a lot of legal
entanglements to work through and it doesn't look
promising...

a movie far ahead of its time, and all the themes presented
in the movie are still as potent today as then, more so i'd
think.

yeah the soundtrack was ace. vangelis did a great job. i
probably would consider it as cheesy if i would listen to it
on cd but it just suits the movie perfectly.

also all special effects are perfectly made.

oh and i would love to buy some blade runner merchandising
stuff :D

like those-drink glass that he uses at the bar, or such a
cool umbrella with a light !

As it happens, Ridley Scott said in a recent interview with
DVD Review that the legal issues had been worked out.

From Wikipedia:

"After years of legal disputes, Warner Brothers announced in
2006 that it had finally secured full distribution rights to
the film. They planned for three stages of releases for the
film. First, a digitally remastered single-disc limited
re-release of the 1992 Director's Cut was released on
September 5, 2006 and on October 9, 2006 in Ireland and the
UK. Second, Ridley Scott's new "Final Cut" of the film is
scheduled for theatrical release in 2007. The third and
final phase, a multi-disc box set including the two
previously mentioned cuts, the U.S. and International cuts,
and bonus features, is also scheduled for 2007. Warner Bros.
has plans to release this box set not only on DVD, but also
on the HD DVD and Blu-ray disc formats."
