Even modern track/race cars are fairly safe. With crashing, it's hitting stuff (unless you're sliding for so long that all protection is worn away) that usually kills you. At race/test tracks they try to clear away anything that could be bad to hit into at high speed, so even at high speed, it's comparatively safe. 300mph is taking the mick a bit though. |

well, he did always try to emulate Clarkson.. apparently Jeremy Clarkson's spokesman has said Hammond has a 50/50 percent chance of surviving. I have no idea how Clarkson's spokesman suddenly became the expert, though. |
