Well, it was worth posting as it's one of those things I always meant to see, but haven't yet. Just ordered my copy.
Whilst on Play.com I came across this. Very tempting...

Some of the episode titles are, in retrospect, rather suggestive:
Wunderpants Lucky Lips Without My Pants Lighthouse Blues Little Squirt Sloppy Jalopy Grandma's Gifts Quivering Heap Little Black Balls Viking Book Of Love The Whirling Derfish Toy Love The Tears Of Innocence The Icecream Man Cometh
All actual episode titles. I think someone was having a bit of a laugh when naming them.

does he call twats politicians too?
my dad talks nothing of war, and everything about women half his age.
nuclear war registers nowhere on his radar these days.

ha ha oh god..
that reminds me, the only thing that kind of irked me is somewhere in the last twenty minutes or so..
.. when they're showing this old tape to a class of little children on a barely working VCR and television - I was kind of amazed to see they had some form of electricity. although it could come from an old battery, I suppose.

One of the benefits of nuclear holocuast is that electrical items "just work" without being plugged in. Like some apocalyptic 80s energy wi-fi system. The downside being, of course, the enormous loss of life.

Just watched my dvd copy. Fuck me, that was bleak. I can only begin to imagine how scary it must have been when it first came out and the possibility of it happening was a daily reality.
Makes "When the Wind Blows" (Raymond Briggs' anti-nuclear book) look like Winnie the Pooh.

I paused it when the phone went and had to wait for a minute or two after the phonecall before resuming it. I'm so glad I watched it without my gf, she'd have been in tears. The ending is so rough too.
What makes it even more harrowing is when you read the credits and see how many Doctors and Professors were consulted in the making of it. It's probably exactly the sort of thing that would happen in that kind of "end of the world" situation.

you already get that "THIS IS REAL"-feeling because of the little facts popping up now and then during the film.
I just think it's fantastic that they showed the aftermath. it just grinds on and on AND ON..
