Any chance of the original thread/a brief explanation of
what this entails as I will probably be up for it, but I
can't remeber what the original salad table was (although
the name rings a bell). Understandably, I don't want to say
"I'm game", only to find that "Salad Table" is some deviant
sexual practice where w M w and sneakattack spit roast you
whilst euphoric trance plays (with a smattering of cut up
breaks over the top).

Ta.

I can't find the original topic for some reason. It seems it
wasn't called Salad Table originally.

To help remind you.

It was by teapot and basically he gave you a track to remix.
That's it. I'm not planning on this being a BIYC or an XLT
vibes thing but just a fun project. I'll do all the hosting
etc.

The original was called "salad table vol.1" i might even
have the cover for it somewhere.

as it was called "vol.1" and as it worked so wonderful i
came to the conclusion it's worth to dig it up.

the last one was also very special because of the
participant "chris ochre" who made this exquisite remix of
justin timberlake.

(again if someone has the vol.1 somewher please share it
because i have just one copy burned on cd and it is heavily
scratched...)

the original idea looked like this:

the "master" of the compilation chooses a track for everey
participant of the full musical spectrum.

everyone does his remix and the "master" mixes it at the
end.

quite simple isn't it?

my idea was just to make the next salad tables "flavoured".
so that for example every track of this version would be a
rock track to remix. vol.3 could be italo dance tracks and
so on.

btw. i can give webspace and make the final mix too

Sweet.

OK, could everyone who's in e-mail me at saladtable at
giginger.co.uk please? Put the subject SALAD please.

I'll then send your random track.

Sadist: How about we both do a mix of the final tracks? They
could be the dressing :D

As for flavouring. I like that idea. I'll see if I can find
a theme that's not jsut genre of music.

I remembered Vibes 8 was teapot but that's not the one.
It'll be uploaded in about half an hour. Don't have the
tracklisting though.

giginger: just a small suggestion:

one thing that really sucks imho at remix contests like this
is when the track you get to remix is difficult to handle. i
mean that you cannot cut out a clear loop or filter out a
section that's interesting for you.

so my idea is to choose tracks that are a bit easier to
remix: like "taxman" from the beatles where you have te
music in one channel and vocal in the other channel. or
"enjoy the silence" from depeche mode where which has been
already remixed a dozen times and you can take samples from
those remixes. a accapella should exist too.

btw.: another suggestion: i guess another person should
choose a track for you... my suggestion is "tax man" :>

Hahaha, your suggestion is well and truly noted :)

When I've got the theme worked out then I'll let you know so
you can choose my track mate :)

another good track to remix - massive attack - unfinished
sympathy. easy to filter and as an extra you can use the
maxence cyrin version too :>

just for christ sake no venetian snares/hellfishes/heavy
metal tracks where the only idea that comes in mind is a
quick merzbow remix cool edit process distortion process
overdrive process distortion process pitchbend process
timestretch process distortion process filter process
distortion alike remix

Yes you can. I've only had 2 e-mails in fact. I'd basically
given up. However, this bump you've given might get me some
more e-mails :)

People, e-mail away.
