as long as there is unsliced bread, opportunities for
knife crime will exist

Nothing wrong with knives. Very useful tool, the same way
that a crowbar is. It's only when they find their way into
the hands of scum that it becomes a problem. I think the
answer is passing a law that basically says, "if you have
any sort of criminal record for violent crime, it's illegal
for you to carry anything that could reasonably be construed
as a weapon."

it's a lunatic idea that you can 'ban' knives, a knife is a
necessarry tool. and frrankly, a knife is just one of about
1000 things that you could use to stab a perrson with.

I have to say though, fucking LOADS of my ex's mates used to
have a knife on them when they were out, it does seem to be
a bit of an "issue" over here. Nothing ever happened when i
was about but it was proper unsettling. That "just in case"
mentality is bad news.

The number of robberies carried out using a knife rose by
15,000 to 40,400 in 2005-06; muggings involving a knife
increased by 17,730 to 42,000 and violent attacks using a
knife on a stranger rose 18,300 to 51,700.

sound.

Yeah, somethings gone fucked up somewherre, the knife
prroblem is crrazy. It's just that it has little to do with
knives themselves. I can see the goverrment coming up with
law upon law and otherr expenses upon expenses in an attempt
to stop people actually getting theirr hands on knifes.
Similarr to the 'warr on drrugs', it just can't worrk. Also,
it's not like it isn't illegal to carrrry a knife in yourr
sock alrready anyway.

I've never experienced 'the knife problem' in any capacity,
it seems like a media frenzy to me

It's against the Swedish law to carry a knife in public
places (unless you need it at your work and so on...).

No, other countries operate even more strict versions of it
and it works fine.

Dannn_: I was mugged at Knifepoint. It happens.

the teeth with super-sharp knives, but because theyre in a
chef's toolbox, its not a problem.
