"Paris Hilton's album entered the UK chart at number 29 last
week"
HOW?

BTW maybe more unsigned artists should start doing this.

off the ground..

Is it... is it... is it a wily HMV marketing exec has come
up with a new, edgy way to get hip youngsters to buy even
shitter records than they would do normally?

offline dog_belch from Netherlands, The on 2006-09-03 13:21 [#01964496]

I don't know why that was a follow up. And how can people
"not realise" they're buying a fake CD if it doesn't look
like all the other copies of the album. I was flicking
through the racks of Aphex and there was a rare copy of his
album with a different sleeve of another artist and a CD by
someone else in it????

that might be the point, I guess. "yeah, so, these people
that buy Hilton records, yeah, they don't even READ the
titles!!"

it's all very confrontational. Banksy's guerilla antics
taught me a thing or two about The State Of Pop Music Today,
I can tell you!

man that pop shit is wack so i will be edgy enough to
substitute my own gruesome product with it and take
advantage of incredibly dumb people to waste their money in
a slightly different manner. underground is always
better no matter what!!!

He didn't change the cover, he changed the inside art. Aside
from the titles, it probly looked the same on the case.

I get the feeling banksy is a group of people, not just one
person. Either that, or he works at the manufacturing plant
/ label.

banksy's wicked!
i emailed him a few times while back for a laugh. i asked if
he had done any stuff in melbourne australia, and he said
no, only sydney or something, but ive seen some stencil
stuff that is definitely banksy (its on his site and
whatnot) plus ive seen some rat stencils.

with most folks agreeing that promis
cuous kinda changed nelly furtados
whole original sound AND seing how
paris hiltons opiated drawl lends itse
lf easily to the sorta monotonous vox
on promisk why timbaland didnt get
with paris to record it its a bangeror.
also who the fuck is scott storch all
of a sudden i thought he was the key
board player for the roots he doesnt
make very clever or useful musixxx.

it is a bit obious though init. have to say i found her
single a bit catchy though it was almost a photocopy of red
red wine.

plus i wanna know how he got all the old cds out of the
shops w/out getting done for shoplifting.something fishy
maybe . i think the shops would happily LET him do it, maybe
??

I don't think it's a bad album, really. I like Paris Hilton,
she's so exteremely frivolous, it's amazing.

Pictures of the artwork

I must say I enjoyed this stunt, just like I enjoyed the
artwork hanal posted previously...

Still I'n curious; over here cd's are not kept in their
boxes when they are displayed in the store, so I'm quite
curious as to how he was able to replace the actual audio cd
as well...

Judging by the photo's, I assume he changed the cover as
well, I can't imagine Paris posing nekkid for the cover of
her CD.

But I haven't seen the original so I don't actually know
this for sure.

it would be easy to do, you dont need to steal the real CDs,
just hide them in the shop.

ha awesome, props to banksy.

I think his next stunt should be to kidnap her, make a REAL
snuff film with her and then replace her cds in music stores
with said snuff film.

Peace

I think it's really brave of Banksy to take on sacred cows
nobody else would ever critisize, like Paris Hilton and
George W Bush.
Who's next, Hitler?

as always, you're missing the point. the controversy isn't
in the people he criticises, but the medium by which he
delivers the criticism.
