what are you on about?

what is "controvesial" about switching a few cd's?

his target is still Paris Hilton and the people who buy her
crap. to me that's a pretty easy and obvious target.

Haha, proof if need be that banksy is a completely ignorant
plum who couldn't pull a good idea out of his arse with both
hands.

you might not find it controversial, but it's more
controversial than random celebrity X saying something
defamatory about celebrity Y on radio or tv.

You don't honestly think that trying to link disneyland and
guantanamo makes any kind of real sense? Woahhhh, like, the
Hegemonic West and Their Evil Deeds, cor, that's right
subversive that is. Broad strokes are one thing, but come
on.

And the questions he "asks of paris" in the sleeve are
exactly the same questions you could ask of any artist. Or
anyone, in fact. Utter pointlessness.

hey redrum let's talk art it will be great and fun and
not excruciating at all

i dont know why everything has to cutting edge never been
done before infallible pinoeering masterpieces to some of
you people, its just a bit of fun, enjoy it, I cant see how
you can possibly conclude that banksy is a cunt because of
this

That's not what i'm saying at all! I just think his work is
really, really trite.

you've missed the point too... he's not linking disneyland
to guantanamo now, is he?

maybe try thinking about it in the respect of what
disneyworld is (a land of artificial make-believe on earth)
and what guantanamo is.

that wasnt specifically to you, but its just that to me it
comes across really snobby and possibly missing the point
when people take jabs at stuff like this

at least what i think anyway is that 'art' like this, if you
want to call it, is not about sitting at your computer
reading about it and thinking 'how very trite', its about
the person in hmv who does the double take and then laughs,
i think thats worth something. although i do see your point
about him using really obvious juxtaposition all the time
but they have a certain impact when you see them in the
street so i like it i guess, or something

Why not lower your expectations to such a level that you go
round laughing at dog turds and going "Cor, what the fuck's
that all about??!?!!? Bloody hell, there's another!"

You might think "provoking a reaction", no matter how tame,
is justification enough, which is ok, that's a valid point
of view. However I think 99.9% of crappy culural endeavours
are only redeemed by the fact you can't point at their
fatuous creators and make snidey comments about them. And I
really wouldn't worry about poor old Banksy, or indeed any
artist, because for every one wanker that makes a bit of
foul languaged criticism, there's a thousand people ready to
go "Wow, wicked work mate, cool" "Hahah. LOL" etc.

Don't come the "maybe try thinking" with me, you patronizing
fuck. Spell it out, you know you want to. You think he's
playing with ideas of the american reality, moral blindness,
"the veneer"? Or am i still too thick to get it? How about
you look at this stunt in the context of his other work for
a minute, he's a cheap shock merchant, and not even a good
one. But fair play to the guy, i'm sure it's helping his
book sales.
