hey everybody,
i'm considering a move to the UK for 6 months or so. i need a place where i can work los angeles hours (5pm -2am london time). a live/work space in an artist building would be ideal. i know london fairly well, but the area surrounding is a mystery to me. a train ride of <1 hour into london would be alright, any further out and it would be too inconvenient i think.
it would be great if you can help out; where is everyone living? anyone know of shared warehouse spaces that keep my hours? i hear the east end is teeming with artists as well, i'd like to hear from anyone living there and what the rent is like etc... thx!

Whereabouts in London have you moved to? I was born in Wimbledon (though I now live in Scotland). My little brother lives in the Fulham area.

move to Peterborough......lol.......no.....lol lol lol.......don't........er, Luton.......BWA HA HA HA HA HA.........sorry.....
There's nowhere outside London that's an hour or less train journey away that's any good. You may as well move to London, or if you really can't handle that - pick another good city and just put up with a long train journey....
Actually, Brighton might fit the bill.

Too busy, too much hassle, too many cultural clashes, expensive run down homes in tight, unpleasent terraces.

hmmmmm, yeah, but it's also got the best nightlife in the country and the fittest girls. you'll never be bored in london and there's some amazing architecture and things to see around the centre. also got a wicked buzz to the whole city - you can't help but get caught up in it and it makes it exciting just to be alive and experiencing it.
you can see DMX Krew, cylob, mike dred etc at any given weekend. it has bangface, plex etc...
it's wicked!

also, the homes aren't all run down terraces - that's just what you say if you've never properly explored.
i live in a very nice flat thankyou and it's in a lovely area with no "cultural clashes" and a nice chilled vibe.

i've moved to a shoebox size flat somewhere near the border of west hampstead and kilburn. i agree with pretty much everything; culture clash, expense, rundown, amazing architecture, beautiful women. good to be here
