I SAW APHEX!

I just got back from glade (best time of my life ever)

I was in the overkill tent on saturday and 'dj rephlex
records' was playing (just before ceephax and vibert) and
suddenly I saw aphex standing at the front watching him
play! the music being played sounded like new aphex stuff
like more aphex twin than afx style stuff, which was
absolutely awesome. Aphex was wearing black sunglasses, a
shirt, some converse shoes and slightly dreadlocked hair at
the back. Me and my friends got pretty close to him and made
sure it was him. alas we were too scared to approach him.
couldn't stop staring at him like a freaky fan. Saw him
again yesterday whilst he was walking through the festival.
walked right past him and made eye contact.

just wanna say though, fucking hell, glade was so amazing.
it is the best place i have ever been and i'm so sad that
it's over. still can't believe i fucking saw aphex after all
this time!
one annoying thing is that i missed autechre cos i went to
get some rest and slept through it (as did my friends). i'm
still kicking myself. some guy i spoke to though said they
weren't doing too much live stuff anyways.

next year, everyone has to go. it's more fun than anything
ever. there wasn't a single fight either i don't think.
everyone was on something and so happy and cool. it's too
good to miss. really.

You know, there was quite a few people who looked like him
there. I saw about 3 or 4 people at least. 1 of whom was an
amusingly fat version.

i smoked joints and drank "Gammel Dansk" with him and
russel haswell on the karlsøya festival in northernt parts
of norway.
The festival is an hippie/anti imperialism festival, pretty
cool and nice atmosphere. no backstage and VIP parts.
Without classes, as a festival should be.

can you describe the "new aphex" music ? comparable to
anything: xmd5a? reunion2? cilonen?

once i saw aphex twin walk past me. i wanted to shout
richard and then look at my mate, as he was called richard
too. alas, i only thought of this afterwards. hu hu hu

i was fucked on k when i heard it but from what i can
remember it was kind of a mixture of like old style aphex
melodies mixed with new analord stuff and nice detuned heart
wretching chords. it flowed like an xmd5a waterfall and in a
way reminded me of st michael's mount. it sounded to me like
aphex had reached his peak of talent. best stuff i've heard
in a very long time.

Raz0rBlade_uk im pretty sure richard was playing @ melt
festival in germany when u think u saw him:

LAZY_TITLE

i agree that grant played some unreleased afx material which
was blindingly good+ also some stuff off squarepushers new
album...

i did know about that but I considered the possibility that
he flew back after his performance in germany. do you know
which day he played on?

good question - shouldnt be too hard to find out. you really
shouldnt have missed ae. it was entirely live and in my
opinion, easily the best set of the festival - as good as
back to back afx/squarepusher last year.

wasn't as packed as squarepusher/afx either, which was a
bonus!
