If you have to ask, you'll never know. I know you didn't ask
though.

RIP, he made some of my favorite songs ever. Jugband Blues,
Dominoes, See Emily Play... man. He seemed like someone that
was never going to die, even though he should have already
been dead.

i still love those old pink floyd records, and his solo
stuff too. despite his not working for 30+ years i'm still
sad to see him go.

what a drag to see him still exploited as a drug casualty.
all the people in that late sixties scene took acid, and
some more than syd.

FLAMING:

Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown.
Yippee! You can't see me
But I can you.
Lazing in the foggy dew
Sitting on a unicorn.
No fair, you can't hear me
But I can you.
Watching buttercups cup the light
Sleeping on a dandelion.
Too much, I won't touch you
But then I might.
Screaming through the starlit sky
Travelling by telephone.
Hey ho, here we go
Ever so high.
Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown.
Yippee! You can't see me
But I can you.

oh, the poetry...peace man!

Depressing news... I'd just had a fight with someone that he
was still alive... I guess they win now.

Great musician/lyricist back in the day... in his own way of
course.

well, I have even heard one solo album of Barrett, Opel was
the album's title. Liked one track there a bit.

offtopic = Roger Waterz was going to have a geeg here in
Kiev a few days ago but he got lazy and decided not to come
but stay home and play golph, betraying many fans (among
which I cannot be found) whoe have already bought not so
cheap tickets.

it's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
and I'm most obliged to you for making it clear
that I'm not here

and I never knew the moon could be so big
and I never knew the moon could be so blue
and I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes
and brought me here instead dressed in red

and I'm wondering who could be writing this song

I don't care if the sun don't shine
and I don't care if nothing is mine
and I don't care if I'm nervous with you
I'll do my loving in the winter.

and the sea isn't green
and I love the queen
and what exactly is a dream?
and what exactly is a joke?

sorry, maybe i just didn't understand what you meant by
saying it was inevitable. isn't it inevitable for everyone?
maybe you had heard that he was seriously ill?

regardless, i didn't take your words out of context.

Fair enough. I really meant it in the context that he was
bound to die early (60 is still not that old in my book)
because of his past health issues. :)

I always thought he'd be one of those guys that live to a
ripe old age DESPITE his past. Keith Richards style. Anyway
I just hope he was content. We hear stories and legends
about him but nobody REALLY knows just what he was like.

this is so sad to hear.

i remember reading a good article in mojo on him about 10-12
years ago, about how nick mason and rick wright had to hold
him up while dave gilmour had to hold his cock for him to
piss because he was such a mong.
