Attention all amateur IDM artists

Just so you know, VST pirating has killed the "Amateur IDM
Genre", so if you're thinking about making another track
with your Korg Triton sidechained to two FX buses with
seperate instances of Glitch VST or otherwise (one of which
has a nice Freeware compressor on it like Blockfish which
really gets things to pump), try to sit down and listen to a
some exotica... perhaps some Yma Sumac... and brace yourself
for a rude interception of your tactless computer farts by
far more interesting (see UNDERPRIVILAGED or MENTALLY
AUGMENTATED (not by chemical means)) artists. Another common
misconception among your types is the idea that money can
buy TALENT and a right to open criticism of lauded or
respected works. Sadly, this is not the case. You have to
have been BEATEN as a small child, be japanese, had your
parents killed professionally, or lie about the above things
to be an interesting musician or to criticize the new PLAID
or AUTECHRE albums. The memo is out, you are going to have
to learn to play a theremin.

Signing off,

Jerky McMilkstain

Vincent Gallo's cock is indeed fat. Far from a two-fister,
though. I wonder who has a two-fist cock in the IDM game?
When will the Plaster Casters get to Uwe Scmidt, William
Basinski (I've heard he's hung like an exotic seamammal), or
Luke Vibert?

I can see from your buddy icon that you're beautiful. It's
true. A little old for my tastes though... a little botox
will surely flatten those unsightly spider-legs beside your
eyeholes.

All of idm is inferior to my beat boxing anyway. Though I am
a complete master at the craft, I find it embarrassing to do
in front of other people (so is similar to my existing).
However in hour long car trips at night when nobody can see
or hear me, the finest audio compositions ever produced are
secretely crafted, heard only by me then lost forever.

Yes, that's why I prefer straight up electro, techno or just
an occasional braindance session. Good quality IDM is still
cool in the right dosage though!

I don't really like IDM either. Well, autechres pretty good.
But any kind of music that practically demands a computer
always seems to inspire impractical wankery instead of
musicality.

I love how someone gets published by a couple piddly labels
and then they get to assume that they have every right to
make sweeping generalizations about everybody that does the
same thing that they do. Its not about making music for
people to enjoy. Its about showing people how bid your dick
is and then throwing faeces at them.

I made no claim of having released ground-breaking music.
I'm saying is that VSTs are diminishing any interest in the
tiny, unremarkable niche that many denizens of expert knob
twiddlers and this board tend to occupy.

"But any kind of music that practically demands a computer
always seems to inspire impractical wankery instead of
musicality. "

There you go. That's what I was getting at.

"I love how someone gets published by a couple piddly labels

and then they get to assume that they have every right to
make sweeping generalizations about everybody that does the

same thing that they do."

This is where you go awry (Correct me if I'm wrong here).
I've released ONE album on a piddly label that I wrote at
the age of 16 that is CRAP. Even so, it's praised by critics
who don't know the meaning of GOOD computer music. AS A NOTE
KIDS, slap vocals on a melodic IDM record and you can get
reviewed in big-wig publications like NME too!

"khonnor is here to school us amateurs on how to make
original, ground-breaking music like his! i'm glad i asked
him how he does it. "

You're boring, I've never gotten along with you, and I have
no intention of doing so but if you want lessons on how to
make music, try listening to something like Raymond Scottt's
"Manhattan Research Inc" whenever you reach for that burned
and autographed copy of that one shitty netlabel release you
did and start taking notes. I regard this as one of my
favorite records so listen carefully. I know how much faith
you have in my tastes and interests. Thanks so much for
asking. May the chafe be with you.

I know. I've turned into a complete anus.

A halfways between pre-embittered old mandom and sideways
wit.
I'm totally going to die prematuraly! Anyways, I've sent a
message that is sure to get me permabanned so most folks
won't have to deal with me again (unless I meet them in real
life!).

I don't believe that people don't LIKE the album because I
know they do. Heaps of people enjoy it...
But hopefully more capable music will come from this neck of
the woods in the near future. It's been quite a while... and
there are definite reasons for that.

The sheer amount of time away from the scene is sure to
diminish any credibility I've had for said album, which is
precisely what I was aiming for.

See you later, possibly!

Quite a bit of boring shit too, eh?

Well... not much you can do but make better.

All I have to say is... the interenet has had a HUGE impact
on the release of good, eclectic music in the past 6 years.
I could write a whole fucking diatribe, but I'll save that
for some future issue of Grooves Magazine or something.
Counting the minutes till I be banned!

speaking on behalf of myself, having known khonnor for
awhile now and having released music on labels and seeing
what a complete joke idm (among other things, certainly not
limited to) has turned into to, im going to side with
khonnor, despite my need to be a good boy online and my
disapproval of the method used.

my solution: design vsts that when used, a giant spike will
shoot out of the computer screen and directly lodge itself
into the users brain. three seconds later microsoft sam says
"woops" and then "soy" because if you type "soy" into
microsoft sam's text program its the creepiest sounding
thing in the world.

though the more natural solution of nobody caring anymore
about idm because most of it is god awfully bland and stale
is killing it off quite nicely. at least we arent
experiencing the late 90's boom of idm where acts like
FIZZARUM somehow managed to get on DOMINO. whats with that
shit.

Well, the message was fine. It was the way he came across.
When you are trying to make a point, it pretty much can and
should be expected that comming across as a bitter eliteist
douchebag is going to get you flamed.

I find "computer music" generally seems tasteless and
uninspired, but I don't go yelling about that all the time
(Well, I do sometimes, but only when someone starts talking
shit about gear).

I guess what I mean is, people should feel free to do what
they enjoy without being shit upon for it. If you enjoy
shitting on people, by all means go ahead. But don't whine
when people start shitting back at you.

correct me if i'm wrong, but this is just trolling right? i
don't really know what the point of this is, or how it is
constructive..

what i do know is that a lot of amateur artists aren't
signed or have releases because they haven't bothered to
send anything out. some people are happy to do this shit for
themselves. its stupid though, i mean so what if everyone
has a thousand vst units on their p.c and are making crappy
music? what about the guitar? how many people are there out
there with a guitar? i'll bet theres more people with
guitars than vsts. when more people are making music, its
just easier to cream off the best.

2. "VST pirating" wtf ? have you never stolen anything ?

3. the term "IDM" was invented by people like you

"Make some music, it's much better than venting at anonymous

try a bit harder.

Congrats, you've made another person NOT listen to your
