:)

i thought khonnor was being funny/ironic

it never translates well though - see my post!!

@ the end of the day - the quality comes from the talented
obsessives who work on their music day in and have been
playing musical intruments since an early age....

just like in footy - lots of people enjoy it and play it....
but the job of labels is to pick the most talented 11....

VSTs and cheaper sequencer / sampler packages have brought
the methods and the emasns ot more people... its a good
thing...

but some will be pushing on and that is always what music
needs....

history of music shows that there are cycles/trends that
come as original or hybrid breakthroughts > get copied and
interpretated > go down in popularity > get reinterpreted
and come back hybrid again

DO your thing people

with waht ever

how ever you want to :)

actually i meant i'd hire a nobleman attendant who ranks
lower than me in feudal hierarchy. One who has not only shod
horses but can also play the lute. from my new squire i
would learn to play stringed instruments and my horse would
gallop on the finest shoes in the land.

i agree with khonnor that using vsts of that sort is
bullshit and lazy

i dont agree with room that you have to spend money on gear
to be a good artist, i was just talking about this with
someone, on the subject of someone else messaging me to ask
what software i use.

even if you have the biggest music studio in the world it
doesnt mean shit if you arent a good composer, and vise
versa, someone can just be working fruity loops but if they
know what theyre doing and have the music in them they can
do pretty fuckin amazing things

rock music is in a far more dire state. i'd rather listen to
wanky free vsts being shoved over a drumbeat by stoned 15
year olds than another boring rock song, yes.

I am sorry. I meant that towards Khoner. I never liked that
kid. He used to spam the shit out of IDM messageboards. He
always used to ask people what the best VST plugins were
too. It just seems idiotic of him to pull a richard d james
and start insulting people and denouncing the genre and
saying that people are bad for doing the exact same thing
that he did. I also remember him trying to do the whole kid
606 thing by bringing up how young he was over and over
again.

It wouldn't be so bad, if Khonor just wasn't so untimely
about it. Being a self rightous hypocrite is one thing, but
at least direct it at something that has some relevance.
Even making a rant about emo would have seemed more original
(or worth 100+ responses).

As far as the Ninja Tune comment went, I still think they
are good too, but a lot of people feel that they have worn
out their welcome, and are using the same kind of tricks and
mood over and over again.

So, what. By that logic I am only allowed to listen to hip
hop because I own an MPC and a Nord Lead?

Anyways. Evolvers are far more IDM than any of those synths
combined. I own an evolver. Does that put me more ahead of
the game than others? No.

> like i said it was a too heavy dose of irony

> music is good if it is good > regardless of process

i think the equipment comparisons come it because people
want to understand (which is fine) and compete (which is sad
to a degree) in making the best sound....

Having said that Leenon & McCartney did a lot of good work
through "competition"

IDM is definately a genre where the "gear" is wrongly given
more status than the talent.... and the talent should = both
what you do & when you do it....

It's sad really isn't it. How all these sad fuckers can only
appreciate music made with the latest VST's, that are really
"complicated" and rip off aphex or autechre in some way.
Pathetic.

Allow me to rudely humble you in the
rudest rudey rude way.

Dear Khonnor/Madam, and the two or three little gnomes that
constantly lick your white Hi-Techs,
you clearly are attempting some sort of lame post-ironic
denial about your bitterness towards people who will always
be more talented, interesting and significant than yourself,
and furthermore the small amount of 'music' you have
released is almost unanimously considered to be stenching
disposable excrement around these parts.
Yours sincerely,
A. Cunt.
