yes indeed folks, the bass drum is something to be heard in person, rather than through a recording. i can tell you, nothing sounds as good as the real thing.
and before anyone kicks off asking me "where's some tracks?" i've had to have most of my equipment carted off to my fathers in Birmingham, so this is all the equipment i have with me (also my girlfriend's parents would kill me if i started making music upstairs in the bedroom!).
also i've only had the goddamn thing for about 5 hours

yes i've been farting around with some stuff, only really basic, but i've got no way to record. at the moment i've been using a memo-tape recorder just so i can get some ideas down.
and no, i can't use this computer to record - it's my girlfriend's computer, and firstly doesn't have audio software on it apart from Reason, and secondly is kinda on it's last legs!

to be honest i'm not in this for money. i love music, and really do see it as an artform. don't get me wrong, i'd love to make a couple of quid doing gigs and stuff, maybe get signed to a small independant label, but i'm not in it for money.
i'm desperate to actually have all my equipment hooked up though.

i feel like shit right now to be honest. im homeless, im gonna lose my job because i have no residence and im currently crashing at my sister's in birmingham. because i will not be able to afford to use my phone as of 22nd May, i
will not be able to contact Flutterby, i will not be able to
see her. not that i'd really want to after the way her and her parents have left me in the shit. i could lose all my music hardware, and be left with nothing. i'm in a pretty low place right now :(
So what happened after that? You've swapped emotions from sad to super happy and you've said you're at your girlfriends now....

What is that, a PSS320?
Your setup is looking even nicer as time goes. Get rid of the microkorg and you have something of wet dreams. I am trying to work on the same kind of thing, only new gear instead of the classics. Working out on getting the new Moog as I write. And then the virus.

Well, he can keep it if he wants to keep a balance between classic synthesizers and crap. But if you are going to have crappy synthesizers amongst classics, you might as well merge the two and get an MS20. (I am just kidding. I just have issues with korg)

basically, at that point i had nowhere to live, and it looked like i'd have to hand my notice in at my job - the only place i had a roof to sleep under was at my sisters flat in Birmingham. my job is in Burton on Trent, and train fares back and two would have killed me.
but my girlfriend's parents (who i really don't get along with) agreed to let me stay at their house until the new year, so i can get my credit score back up (which is shit right now) and save up so i can get my own place. and it's looking like it's all gonna work.
and as soon as i get my own place, i can start hooking all the equipment up all at once and i'll have a fucking awesome sound coming out of my living room!
recycle this is in reply to you too mate :)

samplers are very cool, and it's something that's missing from my setup. i really need one for breakbeats and film samples! would love to get my hands on a Akai S3200XL, but money isn't permitting at the moment. i really wanna get some analog monosynths...definitely an SH-101 (and yes, even though i have an MC-202, i'm still finding that one more difficult to program than the 303, and i wanna play some sub bass with a real keyboard instead of a VLTone one!), would like a Pro One, and of course a Minimoog.
if i ever get my setup sorted as i like, i would be interested to share some ideas mate :)

this cost me £1000 in four monthly installments. the guy was very understanding of my situation, so let me pay like that.
and for the condition it's in (which is the best looking 808 i've ever seen listed) plus the MIDI implementation, i think it was worth it.
it's knocked the 303 off the top as the most expensive piece of my kit (303 was £720)

the Yamaha is a PSS-130. doesn't have an audio out line, only a speaker, but i'm sure it's moddable to have one ;)
i've got a few "crappy toy" keyboards which i wanna use as extra sound sources really....use anything i can, especially live.
the microKORG is my girlfriends. i bought it her for Christmas 2003 as her first synth - something for her to practice on, and get the basics of synthesis nailed :)
i'm desperate for an original Minimoog. although the Voyager's MIDI and patch memory is very favorable.

Hows the 808 sound triggered with midi? Some say the magic goes away. Are you using software sequencers? Also, the Mini. What makes you want it? Ive been wanting one, but they are so expensive. I've been reading up omn the octave cat., I hear that synth is killer. Better than the pro one. A cross between the arp 2600 and the mini. And its usuall very cheap. Also hear great stuff about the maxikorg.

Modding a speaker to a line out is the easiest thing in the world. If it has two speakers, you can do 3 pole, otherwise, just choose a two pole line out. If you open it up, you will see two wires connected to the bottom of the speaker. Cut, strip, and then just solder those to the plug. You don't really even need to worry about polarity. Piece of cake. ;)
