will ship to [not you]

Is there some kind of extra hassle when shipping things to
Europe from the US? Do you have to get your background
checked by the CIA or something? Is there an export fee?

I'm hunting Ebay for large format 4x5" cameras and I just
don't get this "will ship to the United States". It's big
and chunky, you still have to put it in a box and send it
off, even if the buyer is within the States. You get paid by
PayPal, so you have the money before you even touch any
cardboard or foam. What is the problem?

Just say "worldwide".

the US is cheapos
it would kill the european market if all europeans were
allowed to buy their goods in the us. especially in the case
of computers. a 500 dollar dell is 500 or more euros in
europe. using the exchange rate 500 dollar is roughly 390
euros.

Don't forget taxes added to that. Unless a package slips by
customs, there's an added 25% tax here in Sweden + customs
(depending on what you've bought). It's usually cheaper for
us to buy from Germany, unless you actually travel to the US
and can use the items before going back.

Of course, LF cameras don't grow on trees, so it's annoying
when someone only sells to the US.

-Posting a 4X5 camera internationally from the US to EU will
cost a lot more than usual, and the seller probably thinks
international buyers are dumb and don't know this and
won’t be willing to pay once they win the bid.

-The seller will have to fill out a green leaflet thing at
the post office which has all their information. Not really
a hassle but some crazy yanks might think it's intrusive and
the terrorists will get em!

-The seller might be afraid it'll get damaged on it’s long
journey if they don’t use extra padding so they say fuck
it and get all lazy and shit.

What kind of 4X5 are you looking at by the way?

Oh yeah, those immature 4x5 buyers..punks :)

I'm looking for any kind that has a graflok back for a roll
film holder. I'm waiting for one seller to let me know about
a Sinar Norma after some student has looked at it first. I
don't have a car so a folding field camera would be the
best. I've been looking at the Shen Hao starter kit at
badgergraphics.com

I'm ready to buy any kind really as long as it has plenty of
movements and takes a roll film holder. Really hoping for
the Sinar now. It comes with two lenses and he's asking
about $400.
