I always liked the Friday the 13th series... nice, campy fun. And the character of Jason Voorhees is just classic, a lunatic with a hockey mask... timeless. I can't count how many nightmares I've had with that crazy fucker chasing me through the rock quarry by my house. Fucking scary rock quarry...

it's funny seeing a young kevin bacon getting killed on his bunkbed in the first Friday -- and then there is the film debut of a certain Johnny Depp in A Nightmare On Elm Street :) AND.... a certain Brad Pitt starring in Cutting Class, another "classic" 80s B-Movie horror flick

They should make a semi sequal to the never ending story, but make it all evil and mostly staring that big evil wolf, and they should make it without a happy ending, like the wolf's powers triumph. When atrayu approached his cave, he said the craziest wickedest stuff too, about humanity losing hope so he can control them easier and stuff. And when he talks his eyes get all big like he's gonna devour you.

I have Hellraiser 1 on dvd, want nr 2 aswell, when i can afford it. You have to see THE THING by John Carpender. It's one of the best, if not the best horror movie ever made.

Hellraiser 5 made me angry I was so looking forward to them expanding the story after 4 and then bam they give us a fake movie with little or nothing to do with the Hellraiser mythology..yeah Nightbreed was very cool too as was the Lord of Illusions which I think is the most underrated of Barker's flicks

4's better than I expected..I like the technocyber mixed into the Barker horror
though if you were into the Hellraiser comics it would spoil a bit of the mythology..i.e the Lament Configuration is not as old as some of the stories were

Night of the Living Dead.....an old old b/w film that just terrified me the first time i saw it as a kid. i think it was the claustrophobic feeling of the people being trapped in the house while the people that wanted to eat them were trying to BREAK in. i believe it's a Romero film.
The Shinning was terrifying also, again for me i think it's the scenario of the closed off from the world feeling, CLAUSTROPHOBIA..eheheh i'm telling ya
The Thing, i watch all ze time it's on the Sci Fi channel (i need to buy that DVD) it's great.....cold.....closed off....hummmm this is reminding me of something.
i honestly tho have not seen a truly scary movie for a LONG time, i don't mean gory, i mean SCARY. any suggestions besides the ones already posted??
thx =)

the entity is scary as hell. it's supposible based on a true story which is quite a distrubing thought. being raped and beat up by an invisible force is just frightning to think of....and i won't tell you the bizzare ending which i highly doubt that happent for real.

Legend of Hell house is an old but scary movie. It has great atmosphere. It's about a group of scientists/psychologists who spend some time in a haunted house to check what the f**k is going on there. Lovely creepy.
Of course the Barker/Jackson/Raimi/Carpenter/Romero fliks rule too.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there is a Ring 2. I have to find the Ring somehow, seen a review of it on SBS' Movie Show (Australians will know what I'm talking about) and it seemed very good.
There is also a game based on the movie on the Dreamcast...

i prefer hellraiser 5 to hellraiser 4.
PS the shining only has on N in the middle! :P
PPS if you ever see a film called The Doorway, I found the main actor's email on IMDB, and he replied to the mail i sent him! :D
i love the old version of the the haunting, dir. robert wise -- really GREAT atmosphere -- and the house on haunted hill, starring geoffrey rush is amazing too :)

yeah, dead alive is another title for braindead.
I personally used to be a big fan of Lucio Fulci, a director from Italy, he did some really screwed up movies around the late 70ies, early 80ies...
City Of The Living Dead House By The Cemetary The New York Ripper
quite disturbing stuff but it was cool in a way... :-) especially since there were some really nice tunes in Fulci movies, all composed by Fabio Frizzi... :-)
you should really check them out... :-) early electronica in a way...
For the classic division I totally love "Dawn Of The Dead", a masterpiece!!
The most disturbing film I've ever seen is called "I Spit On Your Grave". You'll not get away without resting damages if you watch this shitty flick...
horrible film, no gore, no blood, just total madness

What do you think of the new Resident Evil movie? It looks like garbage... ick. Too bad, I thought the games were so atmospheric and brilliant, and the campy acting was kind of fun in a way... had potential to be a nice, artsy movie, but you can tell it's going to be a horrible Hollywood production... sigh.
Dropkicking a zombie dog in mid air? Oh, that looks brilliant...
