You liked The Truth About Demons? I thought it stunk a bit. Well a lot actually. Some semi-promising scenes and that was about it.
(Now Watching: City of the Living Dead -- Woman puking her intestines, Man having his head ripped open and brains clawed out...LUVVERLY!!)

I liked it a lot, very memorable demon/bad guys in the tradition of the cenobytes from HellRaiser unlike the genric cannon fodder cgi monstrosities so many of the new horrors seem to be populated with e.g. Resident Evil, Dracula 2000. The atmosphere is fantastic suitably dirty and grimy. The premise very convincing (a skeptic running around debunking supernatural occurances until it catches up with him big time. You do have to realise it was a very small independantly made movie and they still made it look like a million bucks.

Yeah I do give it credit for being a small-time film. Didn't click with me though : / Been a few months since I watched it, so I can't be more specific I'm afraid... maybe the UK had a differen't version?

And I'm being a bit patriotic ;) but really I am a huge horror fan but of all of the new horrors in the past few years this one sticks in my head the most and by horror I mean true genre monster horror and not thrillers like say Audition etc

True it was a lot better than most of the lowbudget crap coming from Stateside., which is still mainly slasher-based (Camp Blood II, The Dummy et al)...
...I'm still waiting for a horror that's 90 minutes of total mindfuck and gore -- I've seen a few films coming close, but never one that reaches that perfection :) Feel free to hit me a title if you know of one that fits the bill.

Halloween VI is pretty good actually... As are the first two of course. I saw Jason X at the movies the other week... Some nice killings but it was pretty silly if you've seen the other Friday the 13th films... Jason in SPACE?? hmm... almost as odd as when hellraiser went in space. . . must be a trend amongst the older horror franchises.

Thx, I'll keep my eyes peeled for it :)
Remember, in Horror Franchises, it doesn't matter how many times the antihero is killed, he always returns...
Maybe they learnt that from those 70s Dracula films, where Dracula always returns for the next flick...

Good call!
The Host (Korean monster flick) is the best horror/comedy/action film ive seen in a while. Reminded me of Jaws in a way...
I'm after recommendations as well actually!

Oh yeah, I've read a bit about The Host -- on my list of flicks to check out :]
I just rented Galaxy of Terror, a Roger Corman production from 1981 with Joannie from Happy Days in it. I started watching it but got distracted -- looked like a big slice of fuckin' cheese tho!

Galaxy of Terror is fucking wicked. I did a BIYC ep named after it! I get most of my 'shit film' recommendations from a book called Slimetime: A Guide To Sleazy Mindless Movies by Steven Puchalski. Hundreds of pages of honest reviews (in ragards to whether films are Good Shit or Shit Shit) covering all sorts of genres. Well worth the money!

hahahaha not a chance :) Maybe I could scan it in for you if you're really nice to me! The author reviews films on Rotten Tomatoes once in a while (see here) but he doesnt seem to cover a lot of the stuff he does in the book (I havent checked the link properly yet).
