i hate those deliberate "no fucking chance" questions.

i.e., when did elizabeth taylor have her first facelift?

A 1968 B 1969 C 1970

even richard burton wouldnt know.

you can make an extensioin of descartes cogito ergo sum,
apply it to memory therefore giving meaning to time through
conscience then history is a result of trusting existance.

history = interpretation of past events
time = arrangement of events

simply put: if an interpretation is relative (which it is,
of course), the concept of time can still exist

but even the concept of time is a concept, and therefore an
interpretation of reality?

But if there is literally no physical difference between a
moving and a non-moving arrow in any given discrete instant,
then how does the arrow know from one instant to the next if
it is moving?

how do we know the arrow knows anything?

We don't know what the arrow knows or whether the arrow
knows anything. For all we know the arrow knows not of what
we know or it knows everything of what we know of what it
knows.

but the concept of time has no meaning the way history has.
if the Germans would have won WOII, the historical meaning
of WOII would be totally different. the events describing
WOII could be totally different, but the space and time
would be exactly the same.
on the other hand, if you travel with the speed of light, it
would be possible that sequence of events could be
rearranged from the observer's point of view. not sure,
though.
nevertheless, the relativeness of history doesn't implicate
that there's no such thing as time.

F yourself earthleakage

but time is very relative - everyone has had moments when it
feels like 'time flies' or when time seems to slow down.

there's a difference between psychological/perceived time
and physical time. light travels with the same speed and
takes the same amount of time to travel a certain distance,
no matter how long it 'felt'.

i didn't say the relativeness of history implies no such
concept of time i said if all history is relative. which it
isn't. which makes the initial statement neither correct nor
incorrect, but a mere discussion point, metaphysical in its
solipsisticality. there is nothing to 'prove', and you've
just fallen into the old over opiniated holier than thou
trap which makes you look like a bit of an idiot.

my F comment was mean to be lighthearted, i was merely
suggesting that you would've failed had you written that
answer down in an exam or on a paper. i could pick holes
until the cows came home in all of what you've said but your
unpleasant remark and your own misguided convictions that
you already know everything makes it a rather fruitless
exercise really.

o, i took the F comment lighthearted actually.

funny that you give me a 'lighthearted' grade, where you say
i fall for the 'holier than thou trap'. i don't think i'm
the only one with misguided convictions here...

if you could have picked holes in what i've said, why didn't
you? this ad-homini thing is pretty pathetic, actually.

o, and to come back to your point:
i don't see the difference between " the relativeness of
history" and "all history is relative", but that's just my
holier point of view...apparently
but hey, you're right, relatively speaking

IF all history is relative. i'm not saying it is!

IF a THEN b.

im really sorry, very little of what you say makes any sense
to me

but anyway most of my last post was a trumped up joke,
parodying know-it-all idiots, i do that all the time.

and the initial post wasn't even meant to engage any
fruitful kind of debate, i posted it while i was drunk, and
it is a reference to a comedy show from 15 years ago about
always getting a bastard hard question on those quiz
machines when you're just about to win some money.

sorry.

I thought time was all relative. I'm pretty sure history
isn't. I mean, if history was relative then it wouldn't
really be based on fact (or would it?)
