The Other Confield Thread

This album kicks ass, really ! I thought I was a bit bored
of Autechre these last weeks (maybe months) but I gave a
spin to Confield this afternoon and WHOA !! I was still
impressed like the first day I heard it !

My favorite tunes are still Pen Expers and Eidetic Casein,
but every track here is AWESOME !!

This thread is dedicated to those who love this album and
think it deserves another thread than the classic "discuss
this release one".

Yeah every song is top notch... I have a hard time getting
into "Bine" though, even though confield wouldnt be the same
without it.

There's just something about the growling soul caught in a
machine sound that seeps through Sim Gish that gives it such
an edge. Sorry for the cheesy mental visual, but there's no
good way to put that background sound into words.

This album required me at least 50 listenings to fully
appreciate it, though I loved Pen Expers or Eidetic Casein
from the beginning and I've always enjoyed parts in the
other tracks.

Confield is about producing etanol for our SUV's.

Lentic Catachresis is fantastic, but the last 3 minutes or
so are beyond music...

I returned this record to the library a few weeks ago (to
scratched up to make a proper copy). The first track with
the never ending spiral of a metalic bowl on a table was
unique.

You should really pay the suggested retail price of Confield
before you listen to it.

A person can find some good music at the library, sometimes
new releases. As far as electronic music goes they also had
Squarpusher's Go Plastic(?), two copies even. They also had
26 mixes for cash, but i made the mistake of buying that
thing before hand. Yeah, I said it. What are going to do
about it? Eh.

Some good classical, too.

Wait. Come to think about it, they also had some decent DVD
titles. Tokyo Story. Art 21 Doc. Ran. And one of my favorite
movies, Madadayo (sp).

Confield will by purchased legitimately soon. Once I rummage
together some soda cans fors nickles. Many cans, many
nickles.

reading it, i fail to see how this Confield thread is
"different" from the others, but i'll listen to it again and
tell you how i feel about it in an hour (or less, if it
really failed to convince me).

hahahaha
probably he was jimmy edgar...

about buying it, dunno, theres too much interesting music
out there, and not enough money in my pockets, for buying
another autechre... and if i decided going for a new ae, id
get incunabula first (no, still dont have it yet. my shame).

Confield is way better than Incunabula !

Btw, what new music is better than Confield ? I really can't
think about a better electronic alcum at the moment at
least.

• Vi Scose Poise:
still as beautiful as always. i love this track. a+

• Cfern:
this one's okay/pretty good, though it doesn't have the
grace of the first track... the ambiance of it is dull and
morose.

• Pen Expers:
ah, it seems like i'm liking this one very much today.
sometimes it just sounds boring to me, but right now it
sounds like a savage / wild rhythmic track, with a nice
melody that's "glitched" in a nice way to follow the rhythm.
the ending (after the melody has gone) is a bit too long,
but... nice.

• Sim Gishel:
they had a rhythm that could have been interesting there,
but didn't do much with it. or maybe i fail to see it. apart
from a few subtle changes/bursts of other elements
(sometimes melodic), but... not really. and no, after some
time that loop just sounds like some kind of robotic bloated
farts after a while. could do better.

• Parhelic Triangle:
the rhythm in this one doesn't sound too classy either, but
the metallic drones and sounds that are first in the
background then come progressively in the foreground are
really nice/beautiful... anxiogenic and strange in a very
beautiful way. i would like to have a version of this track
without that b-b-brrp-brrp-whatever rhythm. it would really
be interesting if Autechre decided to make an ambient record
too...

• Bine:
starts really good and continues in the same way. more
unsettling tones and strange harmonies. good!

• Eidetic Casein:
good to have another melodic track again. the melody sounds
at the same time weird and straightforward... i like it.

• Uviol:
reminiscent of Vi Scose Poise, and beautiful as well. maybe
not as good as Vi Scose Poise, but pretty close...

• Lentic Catachresis:
not bad, but nothing new. i could have done without it.

so yes... good album.
not perfect, but very good/rewarding when in the right mood.
: )

Vi Scose Poise is still my favourite Autechre track (and
also one of the only ones i can enjoy almost whenever).

no, i dont think new music is better than confield...

autechre are the greatest!

but sometime it is too "mental" and i only listen/enjoy
their music (specially their last albums) by time to time,
when im in the mood...

and i need to discover new music and sounds that amaze me!
