i love this album as well, but its originality has been taken down a notch after hearing the OST (yes the band not "original sound track) album called - Seimlste. It sounds like confield, while it came out at almost the same time, has a lot of paralells with this album. OST has been making music like this for years, where as autechre only started once they took OST along on a US tour. for those Confield fans i highly recommend checking out Seimlste. Its like confields darker cousin. Not trying to knock sean and rob but Its interesting to hear a relatively obscure electronic artist that may have influenced Autechre, i felt similar when i checked out Explorers We by Farmers manual.

Well I'll be happy to check them out, but I'm not sure what it means to say Autechre started making new sort of music with Confield. There is logical progression from Tri Repetae, Chiastic Slide and EP5.

i like draft better, but thats only cause i didnt understood confield when it was released and because draft is more easy to listen to me...
i also agree with boxbob with ae evolution, i think that draft (and confield) developed one aspect of ae's music that had been always there. thats why i like draft (and confield and untilted), cause it let me relisten previous ae discography and enjoy it again, rediscovering new things and ideas.

i'm sharing it on slsk atm. same username as here. @jackeroffer: i wouldn't compare o.s.t.s (dalglishs/rook vallades/whatever) music with autechres in that way but blah... since you seem to be an enthusiast like me i want to ask you if you
got the "does not play with others" album... been tryin to find it on slsk for an eternity (yeah yeah, i'd consider buying
it, too, if i heard it before... most of his stuff is out of print, tho,
so wtf)

i think its possible that autechre is influenced by other electronic artists namely farmers manual and OST. OST has always made very dark forboding idmish/experimental/glitch music with lots of dark ambient background noises (long before EP7). Chiastic Slide also probably had an influence on OST. EP7, and confield *could* have been influenced by OSTs music. Im not saying it was for sure, but it sounds like it to my ears. Farmers manual probably had a more direct influence on Autechre, namely Gescom: Minidisc which was pretty much their version of Fm's Explorers We. Autechre's music is very unique and always will be, but to claim that everything they do is totally original and not influenced by others in the genre is slightly silly.
